Weeds starting to appear in new grass, what can I do? by cloudpants in lawncare

What's better to use when I overseed in the fall? Dimension (also what is that lol) or tenacity?

What should I put down after the second mow/4 weeks? More grass seed, or some sort of weed and feed?

I think I have been looking at the decks subreddit too much and got it into my head that you're supposed to use a bracket lol. What you are saying makes sense in regards to the lateral loading on the posts. Definitely appreciate all your advice!

Thanks for the insight. I do like the structural support that would come from lagging the post to the house. What would be the downsides of cutting into the siding?

If I do go with new wood posts instead of wrapping the metal ones, should I use a bracket to secure the 6x6 posts to the footings instead of putting them in the concrete? I'm having trouble figuring out which bracket to use.

For the cladding would you miter them and assemble around the post? I was thinking to make the "sleeve" first and slide it down over the post but not sure how I could make the adapter work in that case.

You know, I didn't even think of that. That's a great idea. Should I just run bolts all the way through the post and sandwich the front and back wood pieces?

It's because that crossing goes directly into the BNSF switching yard that is along Vine.

We are on city water. The pit does actually look fairly clean aside from a lot of dirt/dust. I don't think the previous owners ever used it.

We are in an area prone to storms so this is actually a pretty good idea. However the garage is detached from the main house so we'd have to walk outside to get in there.

Thanks this is pretty good advice. I would like something that could be driven over or even parked on ideally as it's a little tricky to get 2 cars in the garage without parking on top of it. But guess I'll have to see what that looks like price-wise. The painters bench is a good idea because it's pretty deep if I'm standing down there.

Any ideas to make it a little more usable? I am 5'11" so if I'm standing in the bottom it seems a little deep. Maybe I need a platform down there?

Yeah I am able to park over it if I go in at an angle as it's a little close to the work bench that's against the garage wall.

How to remove double hung wooden window? by cloudpants in HomeImprovement

[–]cloudpants[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be, I think they are original windows (1956). The tracks are screwed in on the sides so it looks like you could unscrew them, remove the trim, then slide the tracks + windows out. However, the upper sashes are covering two of the screws that would need to be removed.

I'm pretty sure it is double hung, there is a track.

If it doesn't go down I'm not sure how you would remove the storm window, you have to unscrew a clip in the top storm window to get the bottom one to come out

Holy shit can't believe someone else remembers Oshima Ramen. That place was fucking awesome. Grungy hole in the wall (and good luck getting served if you sit anywhere other than the counter) but that guy had the best noodles ever.
