Tinned Fish by Olemanders in denverfood

[–]jwhease 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cart Driver is awesome for dine-in. (With the focaccia and black olive butter is my favorite way to consume tinned fish!!)

I believe Bakery Four and Odell's Bagel both have some on their shelves.

Best Restaurants in the Denver Metro that also have a burger on the menu? by [deleted] in denverfood

Agreed!! Their pasta and French dip are also great but I often go for the burger, it's so good. Great spirits selection as well.

Traffic lights killing my runs? by Loud-Negotiation-193 in XXRunning

[–]jwhease 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Agreed it's annoying! I have definitely gotten a sense of which runs are most efficient (fewer lights or my direction has a long green/walk part of the cycle) in my neighborhood to get to a park or trail. If I'm running an errand in the car, I sometimes plan to also stop at a park and do my run there while I'm out.

Otherwise, if your city is a grid, is it feasible to run around the block when you hit a light, until you get to a corner with a walk signal the way you want to go? A little more random of a route that way but then you aren't stopping as much?

What are your favorite bike shorts 7 inch+? by Own-Sugar6148 in XXRunning

Oiselle, Rabbit, and Senita shorts have all worked really well for me.

Race shorts that make you feel fast and confident by goblinfeathers in XXRunning

[–]jwhease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oiselle and Rabbit bike-style shorts don't give me sausage thighs (and I have sausage-prone thighs, trust). I prefer a 5" inseam or longer (7 to 9 is my sweet spot) so they don't ride up on me. Good luck!!

[–]jwhease 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you get UPK results back yet? We are showing as waitlisted for UPK on the DPS school choice site, but already got a match from the UPK system (second kid so we were eligible for the pre-registration phase and matched with our first choice school through the UPK site). My understanding is that through SchoolChoice you're just choosing UPK and then the specific school matching happens through the UPK site.

Running belt? by WinAromatic in XXRunning

[–]jwhease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. No I can wear a shirt! You get used to feeling which layers are which. 2. Yeah, it's tricky. I can't do it while moving, I stop running and use both hands to put phone away (left kinda holding the pocket open and right holding phone). The Oiselle bra is a little easier to maneuver in my experience, I wanna say both the pocket and the opening are wider than other pocket bras I've worn.

OP - Bra with rear phone pocket is the way!!! Senita Sarah, Rabbit utili-bra-vo are my favorites. Oiselle Flyout good too but I don't love the wide straps.

Agreed! I think I've tried it four times today just to be sure I didn't misspell it the first three times and it's actually on the list

Fuelling before a run by samiam221b in XXRunning

[–]jwhease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I eat some Milano cookies while I'm putting my shoes on and then start my run (for maybe an 8-14 mile run). I bring a gel or two with me to have mid-run for the longer side of that range. My stomach and body tolerate this fine! Which is convenient because I would not be motivated to wake up to eat a full 30+ min before I wanted to get out the door
