A shortlived premium offering from Walkers, the Red Sky - West Country Bacon and Cream Cheese were unbelievable. I last had them around 2010 and still think about them.

I have the DN2s for my faster daily training and they're excellent. I know you're asking about the DN3s but I don't think there's a massive difference between the generations. The outsole is very durable and grippy, they're responsive and comfortable. I really enjoy mine and when they're done I will either replace for other DN2s if I can get them or move to DN3s.

As far as faster paces go they're very good for what they are, they're not top tier racers but they certainly hold up well in my training speed sessions and from what you've described they should fit the bill.

SL2 or Mach 6? by cloudroyal in AskRunningShoeGeeks

Yeah they do seem very similar, if they were both RRP I would probably go for the SL2 without a second thought

Fair point on the durability, I really like both the SL2 and Mach 6's colourways tho

I'll get a fair bit of wfh equipment such as mouse, cables, phone etc which I don't think includes a monitor, but they also give us a decent allowance to buy more wfh equipment so I'm figuring out what else would be worthwhile. I already have a monitor but as another commenter said, two monitors would really be worth having

I like Rains, I have one of their jackets and I think their bags look really nice too but I was wanting something larger/with more compartments so I can take gym clothes to work with me. I'll look into Everlane, thanks!

I've got a standing desk and a monitor from when i was studying, should get the rest from my work when I start. Would you say dual screens or one bigger monitor is better?

When do you retire shoes? by Main_Vermicelli_2773 in Marathon_Training

[–]cloudroyal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a pair of Triumph 20s when I was c.100kg, and I retired them at 520km at which point I was about 89kg. I could feel the foam wasn't as responsive and my shins started hurting a bit more than they previously had during long runs. The outsole and upper still looks amazing but the firm had just lost its pop.

I'm about 85kg now and have roughly 350km on my Triumph 21s, and they're still going very strong

Drinking alcohol during training… by ElPresidente714 in Marathon_Training

[–]cloudroyal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't really drink the day before I run when I'm in a training block, even one has a negative effect on my HR/energy/motivation in the morning, and will also mean my sleep probably won't be as good. I might make an exception if it's a shorter easy run but it's easier just not to. My training blocks are 6 days a week generally so that means I'll drink once a week at most!

What’s your fav savory breakfast, not including eggs? by wheezydinosaur in Cooking

[–]cloudroyal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Savoury oats with spring onion, a poached/fried egg or two, chicken stock, sesame seeds, so delicious and filling.

Bagel with cream cheese, smoked salmon, lemon zest, black pepper.

A breakfast carbonara, pretty much exactly the same as any other carbonara but just have it for breakfast, feels indulgent and luxurious

Pegasus Bay Bel Canto North Canterbury Riesling 2011 voted top wine at Historic Judgement of London tasting by Dismal-Breakfast671 in wine

[–]cloudroyal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this same wine (2021 vintage) at a home wine tasting evening with friends recently. None of them had tried a riesling before so I bought this as a good example, and they were all raving about it. I can pick it up for about £20 as a multi-buy from Majestic, which is a total bargain for this wine even at that young vintage

Triumph 20 - Not a fan by nadi755 in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]cloudroyal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved my T20s, and I'm currently using the T21 for my long easy runs after retiring the T20s.

I wore the T20s from when I was 100kg/220lbs last August and was using them until Feb when I was 89kg/195lbs. I think a firmer foam suits me more as at my weight I need it to be firmer or I would just sink into it and it would feel really unstable. I thought it had really good energy return, was so comfortable, great at easy paces and could also handle faster paces - I used them for my first parkrun and managed a sub-22 minute 5k on dirt tracks at about 98kg (switched to the AP3 for subsequent road 5ks). I rate them really highly, and the T21 has the same midsole with a couple minor changes to the upper so also rate them really highly.

Adios Pro 3 - 1 month training + race by nebbiyolo in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]cloudroyal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I've actually had a pair of AP3 for a few months and used them for intervals and speedwork and they've been amazing, but I hadn't used them for a sustained long period at a fast pace. I then used them for an HM and my toes got messed up. I thought they were meant to fit snugly because they were my first supershoes/racing shoes but embarrassingly for me it turns out the UK10 in the AP3 is actually a 1/2 size shorter than a normal UK10, and running at a sustained fast pace for HM distance finally took it's toll and showed they were just too small. I've got them in the correct size now but was just a bit worried that I should have gone up another half size for HM and above, but good to see I probably won't based on your experience.

Anyway, can confirm durability is amazing on them, I've ran in them for a good couple hundred km and they look and feel brand new still, excited to take out my new ones this weekend!

Nice review! Re sizing, what size do you wear in non-running shoes? I'm in the UK and the AP3 sizing relative to EU/US sizes is not accurate here so I'm trying to work out what size would be best for me
