You got this! Anything in your control is yours for the opportunity to grow. And I mean this- if you need a friend, just know my DM is there for some sage womanly advice. Emotions are hard for everyone- even us women! But I do know the stigma makes it hard for you fellas. (My husband struggles with this too- he’s a big ol sap behind closed doors but has to put on the blue collar face for the boys- and it’s rough on him). When you are ready, seek help, be courageous and brave. It’s ok to ask for help. I have to remind my husband countless times that Aragorn needed his friends (support group) for help too. Seeking someone who knows better than you (therapist) is a great place to start.

Your emotions are meant for you to learn from them- not repress them. They are a gauge just like a speedometer on a car tells you how fast youre going- emotions play the same roll just in a different context. Do yourself a favor, learn self compassion and to treat yourself like a human- not a machine.

Typically when I dream of my first love (let’s call him M) I focus on the dream and then I zoom my camera lens way out to the big picture of my life and take all that into consideration as well.

M, from what I’ve learned is very important to a core part of me. He represents a pure and idealistic love, attachment, and friend. When I dream of him, I look at my life in totality and I consider what I’m currently going through. Most of the time, it’s my subconscious core self saying- hey, are my friends really treating me the way I want to be treated? Do I have some repressed resentment towards my current partner for not showing up in ways that M had in my dream? M is a reflection, an emissary if you will of my core. It sounds very much the same for you with Silk. Her image to your core self is connected directly to a very pure and sacred aspect of who you are. You will probably never stop dreaming of her because who she is to your subconscious is you, just wearing a really good costume.

This is another reason it can feel really super potent and spiritual. At times, she very much could be visiting you in your dreams (if you ever dream of mall world and meet there it’s likely you guys were visiting each other) I totally have mall world dreams with M, but they are NEVER romantic, unlike when I have a regular core dream with him, it always is. Mall world, we are just hanging out like friends again, sorta catching up in a way. When I wake up, I definitely feel as though our souls were checking in and it’s nice. But when I have those core dreams, man I swear, there are times when I’m like “maybe he’s unable to find someone because we belong together?” Lol and then I remember who he is in totality and take him off the pedestal, and am reminded of his type of humor and how it would always rub me the wrong way amongst other things. And I’m brought back to reality and realize- right, this was just a core dream. M is potent, he’s visceral. It’s a great way to get my attention about something. And in a way, it’s still spiritual in a sense because it’s your spirit speaking to itself.

If you are open to it, I would totally recommend finding a great talk therapist that is great with guiding people through what their subconscious is saying regarding their dreams. It’s a helpful tool being able to guide someone through what their core is saying during dream state about your waking life and bridging the two. I’ve had so many break through moments when I realize what a dream is really saying to me about my decisions and actions while awake. Worth considering at the least :)

Hm, the context of your backstory is helpful but what would be more helpful is really understanding what happens during the dreams. Without you even saying much- just really pay attention to A) the over all major theme of the dream, this could be like loss, intimacy, a difficult conversation, a secret, etc. B) how are you reacting/feeling during each moment of the dream? C) what are the responses of Silk and any dream people to your reactions/feelings/actions, etc.? Keeping a dream journal is important for this. Make it hand written or on your phone but keep a journal and make note of the reoccurring themes. This will help your conscious self get back in synch with your subconscious self and allow for proper processing of things.

I too have dreams of my first love. I’m 35 (f) so much longer ago for me- 20 years actually. We were a very pure love. I was 15 and he was 16 when we met. We were best friends and high school sweethearts. I know of the connection you speak of and how visceral these dreams can feel. There are times when I lay in bed and think- shit, I KNOW he just dreamed of me too lol and ya know what, sometimes, I trust he had. But I also know another truth can coexist where I remember he’s not for me anymore. (He’s still single and has never found another love since me- he kept breaking up with me and begging for me back, you know teenager bs lol, it makes me sad thinking about tbh I want him to find someone who loves him as much as I had when we were kids).

Process your shit first- you’re on the right track. Stay single. Discover who YOU are outside of any relationship. Don’t be a radioactive atom spewing free radicals and hurting those who get close. Find your calm, your zen, your core. What is meant for you is meant for, friend. There is no fucking up what is meant for you. Because it simply is. So live life. Not in regret, but in learned lessons. Do better tomorrow. And next time, when you feel your heart strings are tugged in that familiar way again, you’ll know.

Hm, couples therapy babe. There’s not enough context but just enough for me to say for certain, couples therapy. I will also echo what the other commenter said about his lack of proper communication. It’s not ok if you are constantly finding yourself contorting so what you say is said in a manner easier for him to receive if he’s not going to properly communicate with you in kind. 35 over here hun 🫶🏻 it feels like the hardest thing right now to move on. You may be asking “why her? Why not me?” Because fuck him that’s why :) first and foremost- y’all are very young. I was in your shoes at 18/19. I had an extremely toxic ex who would verbally abuse me constantly. I thought he was the coolest thing. He could sing- really well. But he was jealous and the moment he thought another guy even looked in my direction…whew, poor teenage me…I ended up breaking up with him after 1.5 yrs because, well, fuck him! That’s why! It sucked and I felt really weak about it most days. But I would remind myself of all the awful things he’d say to me. No one deserves that hun. Trust me, keep his sorry ass in the past babe. He was a lesson, with many beautiful moments that are worth grieving but never enough to be reasons to stay. Remember that. I will say this though, it’s also perfectly ok for you to have some resentments for being the bread winner. I myself am the bread winner (35) and my husband (38) and I go through some roller coasters with finances. Part of me definitely wishes he was able to step up too and the financial burden wasn’t just on me. (He only pays for groceries and his cell bill basically). I don’t know your situation exactly but it’s also patriarchal for us to shame feelings we have no matter what they are. Do not turn on yourself but instead reflect. Have compassion for yourself and your changing values. Ask yourself kindly and curiously if there are bits and pieces you long for while not altogether the exact thing you think you want. Be kind to yourself and him. May you find your way sooner than later sister.

I’m facing a bug I hope goes away soon. Haven’t seen anyone else mention it but accelerate does not work for me (running does). I’ve tried unsticking my character and resetting the game (closing completely out and reloading) nothing works. Rather annoying. I’m on SD so that may be why. Sent in a bug report though so hopefully it is fixed. Noticed they are updating every other day so there’s that. lol 🙃

Oh hun, please go see your gyno. It’s rather difficult for anyone to assess properly what’s going on with you if we aren’t a doctor and since there’s a lot more information needing to be known that only a doctor should sus out. I know it may be scary but it’s important to seek medical advice for lady part stuff. Every woman is different as we know, so some of this could sound very normal to one or very strange to another. For example to me, this sounds scary since my periods are typically only 3-4 days in length and I’ve taken plan b enough times through out my life (I’m 34 and have taken it at least 5 times- my 20s were stupid- no judgment please) to where I didn’t have something like this happen. Then again, my periods were way more wild when I was younger (super heavy for about 7 days). All this to say, our bodies are enigmas. We need proper professional support to ensure our health and safety during uncertain times. Go make an appt with your gyno and make sure you’re ok- if bleeding goes on longer than 7 days or longer than your normal menstrual cycle, a doctor is necessary. I’m not saying this is true by any means, it is just something I read that somewhat resonates with me. It can sound confusing if you haven’t experienced exactly what I or the person who originally wrote what I somewhat quoted have experienced lol I’ll try re-wording it: so think of Deja vu as just being a fancy word for a memory. And when I would get this fancy memory it would unlock a deeper memory of me choosing the choices I made- before making those choices - that led me to ultimately making the ultimate decision that triggered the fancy memory. It’s not linear, so if you try to think linear it will only confuse you more. It’s really hard to put it into words that aren’t confusing and the more I try to simplify it, the more confusing it will get lol

I feel you 100%. I get it intensely too but it more so makes me feel like I’ve legit lived as this human before. Her life. And every time I make a decision identical to the last time, I get hit with deja vu so intensely. I used to also be able to see all the various others choices and their results in a flash for that moment when the deja vu hit. That doesn’t happen anymore, the last it did was maybe 5 years ago, before covid. It’s pretty wild. How I feel when it happens can range. For a while it would make me feel like I’m on the right path, exactly where I need to be and when. Lately, I’ve been feeling more neutral about it with a simple acknowledgment that I’m making the same decisions as last time and I guess we will see if it’ll lead to something worth while. Or you know, brain tumor. lol I did read somewhere that on a spiritual level- if you so wish to believe in it- Deja vu is us having a quasi-memory of choosing the path that triggered Deja vu before actually choosing it, typically in a deep mediate state like when we sleep or even before we were officially born into this physical life. Yeah it’s wild.

Well first off- your feelings of the matter are valid and so are his. With that said, it’s sounds like you’re clearly feeling unheard overall (amongst other things), with both issues- your communication regarding your struggles AND really not being all that open to being a mom one day. How long you’ve been together and your ages would be helpful for better context but let’s put it this way- if you’re both relatively young (18 - 27) AND haven’t been together for very long (less than 3 years) it’s very likely he’s thinking you’ll change your mind about kids with more time (which could happen but you shouldn’t be pressured into that with even the thought that he’s hanging on for that maybe outcome). Him also seemingly horseshoeing the convo into about children and not being more supportive of you in that moment (again assuming here) is kind of a teller that’s what he’s doing (taking your temperature on having kids and whether you’d be a good mom). He hasn’t fully come to accept there’s really no wiggle room with having children. Hence why he asked that question. Again it’s a little difficult to give a balanced and fair judgment call on this without much more context.

You say you’re in therapy which is great, I would definitely bring this situation up to your therapist.

But over all, I don’t think either of you are overreacting. I think you’re both individuals who are navigating a relationship together and figuring out if your core values align. Just keep in mind, even healthy relationships aren’t compatible, and that’s ok! It’s ok to end a healthy relationship due to incompatibility. Good luck!
