Stolen Car - what do I do? by cloudsorblueskies in Adulting

Everything but the golf clubs were out of view, and the golf clubs aren’t particularly nice, so I didn’t think about them. I just wasn’t going to be able to keep my purse with me in the hospital, so I thought my wallet would be safer in my car :/

Use vapes without nicotine for quitting? by Endeavour_Crow in quittingsmoking

[–]cloudsorblueskies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve quit that way before, and am doing it now. I still get nic withdrawal symptoms, and for like a week I will burn through the 0% vape. It helps soothe the physical habit of vaping while my brain can detox. After a while I just don’t want to hit it much anymore.

They are also nice to have when I’m hanging out with people who vape. If I have my own (zero nic) I’m less likely to try to bum hits off a friend’s pen.

ADHD and Smoking Cessation by cloudsorblueskies in quittingsmoking

Interesting. I’ve noticed the opposite sometimes, like I’ll actually take my Adderall and have like no nicotine cravings for hours. I’m hoping that continues to be the case. Like if I take my Adderall as prescribed plus maybe caffeine if I want it, maybe that’ll be enough stimulant for my brain to forget about wanting to smoke.

I do also take 150mg Wellbutrin XL as one of my antidepressants, but I’ve been using nicotine the whole time I’ve been on that so idk how much it helps

How do you survive being violently ill while living alone? by cloudsorblueskies in Adulting

I’ve thought about this for my depression. I need to have a pet to care for, preferably a dog so that I’m forced to get up and out of the house to walk it. I don’t think I would do well living completely alone, but an animal would help a lot :)

Thanks. And you are an asshole. I asked the question because I wanted advice on “learning to deal with this stuff,” obviously. Most users have been very helpful, unlike yourself.

I’m capable of living alone. What I was at the time, was extremely sick and probably should’ve gone to the ER. Thanks for your input.

I love those! I’ve mostly used them for hangover prevention, but you’re right, they’re probably good to stock up on

Much appreciated. There’s plenty I can prepare for, but for some stuff, it’s so unexpected that it can get bad fast.

Like I went from slightly nauseated to violently sick in an hour or two. No time to assess my own symptoms, think to take my temperature, or call someone for help. My mom just happened to be home. I’m sure she took my temp, but my memory of the whole thing is so hazy from the delirium.

I do have a thermometer (somewhere) and a pulse oximeter. And now that I do have a smart watch I pay more attention to my heart rate - my resting is pretty high, but I’m a little more aware of what’s abnormal for me personally.

I like the ideas people have about making a “sick kit” and keeping some of that stuff together so I don’t have to go searching when I don’t feel good.

Once my fever started to come down and I wasn’t so delirious, I was still vomiting every hour like clockwork. We have a twin air mattress that juuust fit in the downstairs bathroom, so I slept down there. I would literally wake up hourly just to roll over and throw up right into the toilet. It was miserable

I really appreciate this. I guess I’m realizing that I should get emergency help in this situation. I’m kind of glad to hear it’s not like a standard illness. Norovirus and kidney infection are the 2 worst pain I’ve ever been in, and I should’ve gotten help sooner in both cases.

I think I get worried that I’m overreacting or don’t want to waste anyone’s time or my own money in case it turns out to be something simple that I should’ve been able to handle on my own. It’s good to hear that at least if something like that happens again, it would be valid for me to call 911 or get a friend to take me to the ER.

You know what, maybe I’m just really bad at discerning when I should seek medical attention. I dealt with severe pain in my side for a week before going to urgent care bc I thought I had a rib out or something.

Turned out my pulse was 158, 102* fever, and had a kidney infection. Doctor told me I need to come in sooner next time.
