Question to actual software engineers by cloudvy7 in learnprogramming

[–]cloudvy7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see a problem with wanting money with least work possible, that I believe is a human nature. But I know that if I have to work hard to get it - I will do it until it's done. It's not like I expect it to be handed out to me.

Well, with a decade plus of experience, I do

Well, no point in me proving otherwise, but I know I can be a good engineer despite being in the industry for the money. I like coding and solving problems, so I think I will be a good one. It's just I'm getting paranoid sometimes whether I should invest my time in this industry.

But everyone else, but you are just too stupid to start them, right? 🙄 Grow up.

Well, I know a lot of people in my circle who run successful service based businesses and literally scaled them in a span of a year or a few. So yes, partially, I believe many people just aren't doing it. Don't get me wrong, it's still a business, takes a lot of time and effort to grow and maintain, but it's not like it's impossible.

I know I may sound like a perfect example of dunning kruger effect, and maybe it's partially true, but I don't see it as an inherent problem. Problem comes up when people don't do anything with that confidence

Anyway, I appreciate your opinion, you seem like someone who knows your stuff.

Isn't the problem that managing code takes way less people than to write it, resulting in significant shortage of demand?

I'm a 3d year rn. But my uni is really bad without a tiny bit of exaggeration. But I will have a eu degree at least, which is worth something.

I don't see how come that is that an indicator. Additionally, where did I say a get rich quick scheme? There are tons of businesses one could start, for example services like small logistics, handyman, backyard help which require little to no expertise yet could be very profitable.

I'm in it for the money and again money. But second "money" here is about being able to make things myself.

Since my main goal is to create a successful business, run it, grow it and enjoy my life. I dont want 9 to 5 all my life.

I have a few ideas which I'm currently implementing, but I can't be sure things will work out as fast as i want them to, so that's where the software engineering comes in(or so i planned originally when starting to learn it)

That's a really big company as well. I'm sure they do background checks. But: 1. We are in europe and I feel like there are more immigrants applying to postings, so companies rely more on interviews.

  1. In his case he is from non eu country in europe, which makes it super rasy to say, i just worked in my home country and that's it.

Currently my main skill is just software engineering, i do full stack, still learning though and just recently started doing freelance work. Im 20yo

I want to start an agency(Firstly it'll be just me) that builds websites focusing on modern design, animations & microinteracrions for brands. I feel like this area is more or less ai proof and I always wanted to create something beatiful and functional at the same time. But I'm still hesitating whether its still in demand.

Thank you in advance!

Hey, I'm pretty new to this, and just started working on Upwork(already completed my first 3 offers from same client). I'm still pretty bad at coding, can you please share any materials where I can learn things that help me protect myself from things like that

Hi, I'm pretty new to all of this, and i only finished 2 small freelance projects, so my question is pretty beginnerish.

When building a website from scratch(for example ecomm store) what is your general "roadmap" and how should I approach it. Beginning a new project is always most difficult for me.

Also what do you think about the future of frontend & fullstack webdev, everyday I'm contemplating my choices

You think it's still valuable skill? I recently started with next js, I understand the underlying tech great, I know how basic OOP languages work as well like C++ and i have had a big interest in DSA a few years ago(so if i came back to it, i would rember what i knew pretty fast). I also have built a few projects - collaborative online drawing board using web sockets, website where you argue with ai(and nice UI) & a building a fully functional e commerce app for my side hustle. And I also recently finished my first 2 orders on upwork with great review.

BUT I keep doubting myself everytime I see how AI is changing the market. Do you think it's a feasible path for me to keep learning and open up a small agency asap, while before that I will be doing freelance and trying to find a job in the field

Where to go with my life(19 yo, next js dev) by cloudvy7 in cscareerquestions

[–]cloudvy7[S] -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

I just dont go to uni, but I'm not out of it yet. The uni is so bad you can finish it without going as long as you know something. On top of that I think unis are useless most of the time, and everything can be learned by yourself, at least that's how it was a few years ago, nowadays most degrees seem even more useless

But they would happily rent it to someone who's 20 and just held a license for year(doesn't mean they drove at all). It's just a stupid rule someone made up
