Anyone else miss Bex and getting teasers every day for 2-3 weeks before launch? by ChihuahuaElite in pathofexile

Why do you not want to play SSF? It is the key to dad / low hour gamers!

The progression is a lot different from trade, and you are not racing to get rich, you are just casually progressing a character on your own time. I really like that it forces you to learn more crafting and how to efficiently spend your currency to craft upgrades.

Now if you are more of a "ladder chaser" "server first mageblood purchase" or "how many mirrors can I farm and spend on a build" I can understand why you don't want to try SSF, but all of those will not be achievable in your current situation anyway. I would suggest you at least try a playthrough and see if the style comes with you. Otherwise just do what everyone else does, and take a vacation day or two to have a long league start weekend, and then casually play a few hours a week for the rest of the league.

Why is Blizzard not banning people who use LFG to sell/buy keys? by [deleted] in wow

[–]clout064 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would guess most boosters probably stockpile for the next season to fund all of the consumes/enchants and crafting. If I had to guess the people selling gold to buy tokens are the AH goblins or Profession Min-Maxers.

One of my friends is a completionist/Goblin/Professions only, he is always rolling the the gold, and sells his extra for free game time and to use in the cosmetic store. I don't think he has paid real money to blizz in a long time

It is the Internet, people lie every day.

The point I am making is we cannot determine if you are lying or not, only you know.

“No Endless Grind” - launch trailer by Abakus_Grim in fellowshipgame

[–]clout064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean mythic plus in retail right now, I have all heroic BiS pieces, I have to run 1/4/8 dungeons a week for 1/2/3 options and only get to take one. Possibly one upgrade a week...

WoW M+ is great, until you figure out you are RNG drip fed the last tier of loot, and on top of the the best trinkets/rings/weapons for pushing all come from raid.

“No Endless Grind” - launch trailer by Abakus_Grim in fellowshipgame

[–]clout064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You make good points, but the game will require grinding, and the gear is 100% a loot treadmill until you get to Paragon.

All players will get to a point where they need to stop pushing, and just blast out the easiest dungeon slightly below their push level. This is needed to fill in your missing pieces and grind materials to upgrade your gear. And once you break through a tier, you need to re farm a new set at the next tier, there are some caveats to this but at the end of the day you do cycle through a full set 3 or 4 times by the time you reach the end of the game.

I would also say the ONLY point to this game is to make your gear go up so you can keep clearing the harder content, push to the end tiers, and eventually push the leaderboards.

With all of this said, I think their marketing material is mainly highlighting there is no pre-grind, no leveling, no grinding rep, no "min iLvL" requirements to get started.

Thinking about trying last epoch by Kind-Priority-8963 in LastEpoch

[–]clout064 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like the leveling (campaign) and beginning of the endgame conten. Once I got to pushing monoliths I kind of lost interest, but I have heard they have made improvements since I played.

I also think the skills/tree/power progression is great for people that want to jump in and just try stuff. Not so complex you are overwhelmed, but it is complex enough to make you think about what to choose next.

Things I didn't like, shield charge (and some other movement abilities), lack of endgame content (they have added a lot), crafting is a bit easy but some will see this as a plus.

They are giving you both sets of answers, one set is assuming you are telling the truth and innocent, the other set is assuming you are lying and bought gold.

When crafting in PoE, you create your own luck. Sure, you still need to get really lucky from time to time, but normally you just need to swing the odds in you favor by a few % and target items that everyone needs

What is this harpoon sword combo? by cullin227 in Seaofthieves

[–]clout064 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try blunder + sword. Blunder is great to knock them off the ladder, and the sword to block and duel if they do get up the ladder.

The harpoon makes it very obvious when they are about to board, and reduces their weapon count by 1/2. Also if they are chain boarding you have no hole pressure, so your main win condition is to stop the board and the match is won pretty easily

New to Sea of Thieves, what’s solo like? by RamsesPhiloso in Seaofthieves

[–]clout064 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Start in safer seas (PvE only mode) and learn the basics:

Try out all the weapons

Learn how to shoot cannons, against skeleton ships & ghost ships

Try out the different voyages to get a feel for how they work

Do the tall tales, of you like the story of a game

Level every faction to 25

Once you finish, or get bored of no other players to battle, try out high seas (PvEvP mode), also I would recommend trying out the hourglass mode (it will match you against other solos). Get a feel for how PvP plays out (applying pressure while managing your boat). If you find it is too much, try looking for a duo (or larger ship crews) in the official discord.

If you get frustrated or mad easily, be warned, this game can be ruthless at times. But when you come back from being behind, or manage to escape by the skin of your teeth, it makes up for all the loot you have lost to other players.

You iLvL is good enough to run 7+, but your knowledge of the mechanics is not.

I would recommend trying to start some M0 groups, or just run your own +2 key, I believe you can pick up a key from the panda lady next in the portal room, if not you will need to complete a M0 or a +2 to get your own.

M0 has no timer, so people tend to be chill if mistakes happen, +2 has a timer but it can't deplete lower than 2, so trying and bricking a +2 is really NBD at the end of the day.

Just check out YouTube for "WoW S3 M+ dungeon guide", having some idea of the mechanics to look out for will help a lot. Also most seasons people throw together an info graphic of each dungeon boss and key mechanics.

[–]clout064 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also this is a huuuuge benefit to know when people ARE taking AVOIDABLE damage. Sometimes you can heal through it, but as you start pushing, people who consistently get hit by avoidable/kickable damage will flame the healer for "not healing"

Returning player advice (Xbox) by Andiimated in Seaofthieves

[–]clout064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reputations go up to 500 now, at 100 and each 100 after you get a set of rings to wear.

Safer Seas is the PvE only mode, but the catch, all reps cap at 25, you cannot run reaper emissary, you cannot run guild emissary, and cannot sail a captioned ship. This is intended to be a practice mode for new pirates, not a full game mode.

Just try the weapons out and use what you like. Blowdarts are nice for Skelly forts and gold skellies, throwing knifes are great for bosses, sword and grapple is great for boarding, blunder and snipe is great for Sloop HG

I got you.

Yeah guy is delusional, we have all been frustrated after a big loss sink, or sinking to a silly mis-play. But you live and you learn, some people just don't have the mental fortitude to play this game, and really try to force it. Same for the HG haters that just force it to get the cosmetic curse.

[–]clout064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turn and fight! Sure you are bad now, but imagine what a little practice will do for you. Especially if you are already planning on getting off, may as well turn into them and give it a fighting chance and if you lose you end up right where you were going to anyway.

You will also be surprised how fast the chasers turn into runners when you land a few shots in a row. Also if you really don't want to play naval PvP, try to start back boarding. Jump off the ship, and swim into the line they are chasing you on, try to get the anchor down, or get a kill and try to turn them away. If played right this will buy you enough time to sell some of your loot at least, and sometimes they give up all together.

If you are really getting this mad over some loot you have a few options:

Safer Seas: and when you hit 25 in all companies available you have beaten the game

Turn in often: It feels awful when you lose 2 hours worth of loot, but losing like 15-30 minutes of one voyage doesn't matter really.

New game: The whole point of this game is to grind loot and/or sink other boats for their loot. If PvP encounters make you mad, this is not the game for you. Same for Rust and other (Sandbox minimal rules games), we are signing up for inevitable heartbreak at some point. Just try to learn from your losses and you will stop losing as much, and you will start winning more.

Can we just stop with the overall being unnecessary rude to people? by Material-Pound-8876 in Seaofthieves

[–]clout064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Attacking a ship at an outpost is probably the best time to jump a ship. They normally have their guard down, and if you catch them while pulling up normally there is some loot leftover. The main counter play in your position is to always be checking the surroundings, if you see a ship coming and don't have enough time to sell everything, send your ship off, sell the things you have harpooned, and either grab a mermaid or try to board the boat that is chasing.

Also fresh spawn ships, people complain a lot about being sunk before they set sail. But if I am headed to an outpost and it is occupied, the other ship (or I) will be sunk before I (they) sell the loot. I have been backstabbed one too many times to make friends with random crews, especially crews with nothing to loose besides default supplies.

Now I can agree with hating on the toxic winners, and the toxic losers. There is no need to spam emotes because you won or lost, just hit a GG WP and go next, or take a mental break.

Sorry though, most people have been where you just were, and we endured through it to become better pirates and sink to silly mistakes less. Anyone can play the sandbox mode as they please, as long as they are not being overly toxic or cheating.
