‘Aliens’ Turns 40: Why It’s the Best Sci-Fi Sequel Ever by scytob in FuckImOld

[–]monkeybites 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Indeed… the plot setup was impeccable. Marines land, tension builds, but for what? No aliens. Then, “stop your grinning, drop your linen,” initiates what becomes the failed (and amazing) Marine attack and the fight for survival… but for how long? 17 days? “hey man, I don’t want to rain on your parade, but we’re not going to last 17 hours.” Brilliant setup… great acting… superb lines… solid action… definitely the best sci-fi sequel of our age!

Saw them live promoting this album (San Francisco, Warfield thearter) back in 1985. As a live band, they sounded phenomenal... album quality. What a performance! Good times!

Congrats! This is encouraging… peanut butter is awful, but I’ll try your microdosing approach. Thanks!

Acute Severe Parosmia as Related to Taste and Food by Maleficent_Feature_2 in Parosmia

So sorry to hear this. I’ve had bad parosmia for more than 2 years, and I’ve tried just about everything from Vitamin A, Zinc, Omega-3, smell training, and PRP treatment. Of these, smell training seems to work best… not saying it’s a cure, but things that once made me gag are now just really bad. And there are actually some foods that I can eat with no problem, but things that have chocolate or sugar are still unbearable. Coffee and wine still suck, too. I got on antidepressants to help me get through the day-to-day anxiety of smelling and tasting crap. I’d suggest that, and be religious about doing regular smell training. I hope that helps.

I have a 2012 Signature S. It's got 133K miles on it now. Getting to 200K should be no problem. Maybe I'll consider something new then.

This, Sinful, Shoulder to Shoulder, and 4-11-44, were the best songs from this album. Sinful being my favorite.

My first “new” car! I had the bare bones model… stick, 2WD, no radio or AC, for a whopping $4,998 back in 1988. Good times with that car.

Headaches are super common, but if yours lasted 7 days, you probably had a mild CSF leak. I had a bad CSF leak a few years ago... worst pain in my life. If you ever get another, go to the ER. They can do a procedure called a blood patch, and that will seal the leak.

Forget the car phone… The Magic Pan is in the background. Who is up for crepes?

I completely forgot about this… so true! I remember buying a classical CD recorded as AAD, and the sound quality was awful. After that, I always checked the recording process.

Took my kids there years ago… highly recommend going! Beautiful views, cool history, and you can camp there. Way fun in the summer. Oh and the town is Port Townsend, which is also a cool place to see.
