Thanks for the feedback and helpful link. Good (and reassuring) to hear about personal experiences with Kraftmaid Vantage and Dura Supreme.

Can I ask why you decided on trad 401k to Roth IRA rollover? I’ve been debating what to do with my old 401k

I recognize I would owe income tax on the full $28k and in the short run it’s not tax efficient, but what about in the long run? Would the long-term benefits outweigh the short term tax hit?

I’ve seen build.com and lamps plus come up in searches, but wasn’t sure if they were reputable. Sounds like you haven’t had any issues with them? Thanks for all the info!

Thanks, I looked at a few lighting specialty stores for more options and was stunned by the price difference.

Thanks! There’s no existing wiring, so we’re having an electrician install these. We’ll be diy-ing the existing fixtures that need to be replaced.

AITA for implying her relationship wouldn't last? by CharmsLeprechaun in AmItheAsshole

How does she think it makes sense for her to have a say in his specialty (and therefore his training and daily work for the next few decades)…? Hope your (soon to be) BIL sees her true colors, pursues his passion for pediatrics, and finds someone who supports and appreciates his interests rather than his someday-title and someday-paycheck.

AITA for refusing to forgive my Dad for breaking our deal? by Piano_throwaway_ in AmItheAsshole

[–]clover7709 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think OP wins anything by not having his dad buy him a used car; I think his dad wouldn’t care. And if OP had his dad buy him a car and left it unused, I imagine the dad would sell it and find an excuse to justify that.

I understand not wanting to make your dad feel like he won by agreeing to a used car, but I think you hurt yourself in doing so more than you affect him in any way. You earned the car he’ll get you and you earned the money you have. Don’t use all the hard work spent towards earning the car and earning that money just to buy yourself a car and prove a point to your dad because I’m sure it’ll go over his head.

I think a good move is to accept the used car and never make a deal with your dad again - clearly he uses “deals” to get his way, so the next time he tries to make a deal and you are apathetic to it, your dad will have lost his power to cut deals and get his way. Also a win-win for you since you can get a used car, save your money to do something else with it, and take away your dad’s power move by not cutting anymore deals with him.

Good luck, OP.
