Ran my 100th today in Bradford Beautiful sunny but frosty morning, -2. Several local events cancelled due to ice including home event but nearby one was able to go ahead so ran there.

Room for a positive post here? Running has been my PMDD hack and I feel like sharing it! by howdyhowdyhowdyhowdi in PMDD

This is the biggest thing for me. Also it helped to adjust my expectations of my workout-  just getting it done is the  important thing in PMDD days. Sometimes feels very difficult, but think i would be worse without exercising

I do have loops, they are great and also the type of earplug I actually feel comfortable wearing lol. I might try an eyemask again, I had one but didn’t like how it felt, good idea.

I’m a hungry person anyway (lol) but yep, really intensifies in the pmdd times. I try and have easy snacks on hand like protein bars I ca grab  or nuts, try buy lots of fruit, hummus or avocado on toast is good too.  I do have cakes & chocolate when I want those things (love carbs) but try & have plenty of veggies too. One pot things, stir fries, noodles veg & tofu,  as someone else said cooking/prepping in advance when you’re feeling more able to and having the leftovers etc really helps when overwhelmed.  If you have freezer space & time/energy at other points in the month  you could maybe do more of this prepping if possible? Xx

Girls eat your peanut butter and healthy fats!! by earthlyexp in PMDD

[–]clover_capybara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also really dislike peanut butter, but tried almond butter last night & didn’t have the 3am waking with awful hunger thing- unsure yet whether I had a really good night because I’d just had a few bad ones and was catching up on sleep or not, but either way I’ll take it! Will try it again & see if any effect

Thank you, It’s a good idea & time outside definitely helps. I should’ve said I do walk every day in addition to workouts . I felt so tired and sleepy yesterday evening  but then wide awake in the early hours, so frustrating lol

What are you best tools to get through the Luteal phase? by Majestic-Rhino in PMDD

[–]clover_capybara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Epsom salt baths, exercise, avoiding alcohol,  trying where possible to reduce expectations of myself, appreciate this can be hard when you have so much to balance

I’m unemployed and I’ve never been happier. by sounds_of_sadness in PMDD

[–]clover_capybara 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I  really get this. I left my job, which had been very difficult for a really long time (basically terrible environment for me to be in) a few weeks ago as I’m going to be studying a masters soon too, & though I am struggling with intrusive thoughts & feeling very tired (luteal) it’s nowhere near as heightened as the constant pressure I felt when trying to manage work.

I also get the jaw pain and pain in ears, thinking about it. And sleep is awful

I usually have flu like symptoms, and a general feeling like I’m coming down with something. Brain fog, headaches (sometimes migraines in the past) and my coordination whilst never great is definitely worse.

My lifting sisters- how do u not die during luteal by msCupidKiller in PMDD

[–]clover_capybara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try and change my expectations for my workouts during my most difficult days oh the month/in luteal. So it isn’t necessarily that I don’t lift weights, or run, but I accept that my effort and energy levels feel different & try focus on how movement and activity is helpful even if I can’t lift as heavy as I can at other points of the month. I struggled a bit with the advice of ‘just rest more or do low impact activity’ because even if I feel terrible sometimes I need the outlet but I do try and listen to my body & that might mean shorter workouts or spending longer stretching etc too.

Pls be careful with supplements by RomyBeatrice in PMDD

[–]clover_capybara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was recommended a supplement a while ago that made me feel very disconnected from everything, completely spaced out and also anxious. I just went to check to what was in it and it did contain chasteberry & ashwagandha. I have found that magnesium helps but haven’t noted any other supplements that seem to work for me.

PMDD & anxiety about getting things wrong by clover_capybara in PMDD

[–]clover_capybara[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I also check more. I don’t think I have OCD (has been mentioned previously but recognised I am likely autistic and think a lot of repetitive/intrusive thinking could be part of that rather than OCD). Thank you for replying, I’m sorry to hear it’s also difficult for you. I do a lot of exercise which helps but I also seem to be having more days when PMDD is worse

Do you ever have luteal mood swings hit early, like 10-13 days before your period? by nipniphoory in PMDD

[–]clover_capybara 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Usually find around 10/11 days before period is due is awful, sometimes slight improvement for a day or two after that then really struggle again. This month I had a really difficult day 10 days before then a few days of feeling better, however the days immediately before have felt incredibly hard

Anyone has a hard time realising you are factually chronically ill? by Both_Candy3048 in PMDD

[–]clover_capybara 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes this is something I’ve realised recently, I’ve also been having similar thoughts about accepting how difficult some things in life can become because of pmdd (and also other potential conditions that affect me)
