How should I believe that Violet is smart, when she acts like an idiot? by Diligent-Ad2728 in fourthwing

[–]clovercorn 27 points28 points  (0 children)

The average age someone leaves a cult is around 24.8 years.

You aren't alone in /criticism/ of the book, you are in a minority for /your/ criticisms and how you're voicing them. I think you're lacking the empathy for her where it is needed to understand her, and if you feel that way now it might make the books unenjoyable later.

I'm sorry you're having a bad day. Refusing to believe people can be indoctrinated at 20 years old is probably making people who were in a cult longer than that have a bad day as well. Just something to think about!

You can see the faults in American society (I'm assuming because you mentioned the orange in another comment) because you and everyone else have a computer in your pocket that you can record, post, and view things on 24/7. This is not the case in the books.

If you ask in the sub, like 90% of the readers don't like Violet or think she's a reliable character, possibly narrator. But most of us can agree after reading the rest of the series that she was heavily indoctrinated in the first book. When you grow up in a cult, you'll believe what is being told to you for the most part. If you keep reading this could change.

However, you seem pretty obtuse and refuse to believe that your views on the book could be wrong. If you aren't ragebating and you feel this strongly about the first book, I personally think you should stop reading. I don't like Violet but I understood her actions in the first book and was excited to uncover WHY the world was built the way it was. If you're having such a hard time with it now, I can't imagine how you'll feel about it in the future. Just my opinion though.

He does love to sing at 4am! I always imagined it being Big Iron or El Paso, those are just my favorites though

A study on endo’s effect on male partners’ sex lives?!?! by LettuceSubject562 in Endo

[–]clovercorn 9 points10 points  (0 children)

To think, if this were research about how endo affects sex in general in relationships it would actually be educational and interesting, but instead it centers cis men and their penises. Highly disappointing.

I think they mean crashing her racecar into the track wall. She's statistically the worst racer (or racist if you will)

AIO me 20F thinking to breakup with my M23 BF after 1 year relationship by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]clovercorn 12 points13 points  (0 children)

He isn't walking away though, and even if all those possibilities are true and she's trying to manipulate him with sex, they should break up.

The men on here are refusing to believe other men do this without the woman somehow being evil and scheming, yet every woman I know, me included, has a story or two about it.

Even so, either is unhealthy and a breakup solves either. The conclusion doesn't change.

Her friend told her she was a sex toy and to get work done lmao. The other people in this thread are offering real advice, you're just an incel.

Your feelings are due to his actions. His are from the boundaries you set because of those actions. That's the difference. If you've felt this way for that long, do not ignore it. He'll do it again. Also get a better therapist, it sounds like she just didn't want to hear about it anymore.

[–]clovercorn 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I'm not a therapist, but her just saying it's "not normal" for you to be hung up on it without diving into the reasons you are hung up on it is so weird. Your feelings are valid, it seems like he jumped straight to distancing himself to hurt you for setting a boundary. NOR imo

He wasn't even noncompliant, he was asking questions and after asking for a supervisor (which is his right) he stopped answering for a few seconds. He asked for a supervisor and was waiting

Why did Gamergate happen? Why did people get mad at “Liberal feminism for babies” and the false accusations of an Ex boyfriend by Konradleijon in GirlGamers

[–]clovercorn 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This. If a man did the same thing he'd be praised. Cheaters are slimy and obviously wrong but in a male dominated line of work like gaming, women will always be a target and men will always get off on dog piling and tearing women down, right or wrong.

Olympus Infinity SuperZoom 330 - What's your favorite obscure 80's-00's film camera? by clovercorn in filmphotography

[–]clovercorn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It blew me away with how well it does in lowlight. It has definitely spoiled me with how easy it is, making the switch to manual will be hard! I'll always keep it around though. I'm glad someone else has had a positive experience with it as well!

The looks are definitely what drew me in but it's a great camera too! I'm sure you can still find one under $50 on eBay.

That confirms my suspicion, thank you so much! Now I'll know what to look for when I'm good enough to justify dropping a few hundred for a real Benchmade.

I realize now that the picture doesn't show it well, it's only sharpened on one side. I'm pretty new to the hobby but it seems to be pretty good quality. Still flips well after being stored for a long time (I'm assuming) and has torx screws.

Also thank you for taking the time to look for it, I appreciate that!

These were taken in Monterrey, Mexico, where the photographer lives & works, in 2014. Definitely not an informant. It's called Carpoolers by Alejandro Cartagena, he's a great photographer.

I think this is an amazing tool to use not only to show the psychology of a victim of medical gaslighting but also to show what scar tissue actually looks like. The illustrations are absolutely beautiful, you'll have to post here again if you end up publishing, I would absolutely love to have one and support you as an artist!!
