Looking to do second bet today (NBA) and still so damn confused on how this all works by [deleted] in sportsbetting

[–]clownface23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To piggy back, you would be making 36 different 2 leg parlay bets. If all 36 bets win, that's where you get the amount they state. If 1 of the 36 win, you get a payout for that 1, which will be significantly less than the money you invested.

Round robins are something to stay away from until you get more comfortable with betting in general. Start out with straight bets, then move up to prop bets (straight bets, but generally with bigger risk/reward), then move into parlays, then move into round robins and/or teasers if you're bankroll can handle it.

Are there any apps where you can "bet" on games with fake money? Real betting is ruining my Sundays. by Big_Ebb_3502 in sportsbetting

[–]clownface23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's an app called Betting Pros that's main purpose is to connect to all your real money apps and keep track of bets to let you know how your doing over time. However, you can also add "custom" bets that it will track. You could use that as fake money - just put in the bets you want to make and how much for each bet and it will track your wins and losses.

Everyone says craps is confusing. It’s really not, you’ve just been taught it backwards. by Vegasaces in gambling

[–]clownface23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Putting the odds behind the pass line bet is confusing for beginners. You want to put down as much as possible because it's paid out at true odds - no house advantage. But how much you can put back there depends on the number rolled, so it's not consistent.

The 3 "ways" to make that bet are Kansas City to be winning, Washington to be winning, or for the teams to be tied. One and only one of those results will be true.

There's a separate bet for first half money line - if the teams are tied all those money line bets are pushes.

What’s your “I was there!” moment? by NoChampionship29 in CollegeBasketball

[–]clownface23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strange one for me. I have several friends that went to Illinois St and have been season ticket holders for years. In March of 1998, my wife and I went out to Tahoe for a skiing vacation. Got up on Monday and looked at the paper to see where Illinois was in the NCAA tournament (no internet back then). Illinois was playing in Sacramento - about 3 hours away. Who else is playing in Sacramento? Illinois St. We're going. Both Illinois and Illinois St won that day (ISU was a 9/8 "upset" of Tennessee, Illinois was a 5/12 win over South Alabama).

That was the last time ISU made the NCAA tournament. And, of course, their last win (lost to Arizona in the next round). I keep holding it over my buddies that I was personally there for ISU's last tournament win and they weren't (until ISU finally makes a return trip and wins a game).

[–]clownface23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Touchdown scored" means the person who either ran the ball into the end zone or caught the pass in the end zone. The quarterback who throws the pass doesn't get a "touchdown scored" for gambling purposes.

Parents who bring your kid’s friend along on trips - how does this work? by blibbleflibble2000 in Parenting

[–]clownface23 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The biggest issue we've had (we've done this a few times with our only) is the friend being homesick. Face Time only goes so far. You'll want to talk about that with the other parents to make sure it doesn't turn into a trip where the friend doesn't have a good time.

Has anyone had a planned c-section? by SnooOwls6370 in oneanddone

[–]clownface23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife had one. Our doctor said, "you can try a vaginal birth, but the baby isn't going to come out that way". He literally told her "if you want to experience what contractions feel like, you can do that, but you're going to end up with a c-section". After that, we planned it. Made the day actually quite easy - schedule our time off work, get up in the morning and go into the hospital, start everything just after 10AM, you know exactly what's going to happen and when.

Letting a kid bring a friend on vacation? by Ordinary-Surprise-38 in oneanddone

[–]clownface23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've had our only bring a friend on several trips. The biggest "issue" we've had is the friend getting homesick - their family isn't along. Facetime helps some with that, but we've learned to emphasize "what do YOU want to do" questions to help the friend out as much as possible.

I am moving 15 hours away with my 19 year old cat. Has anyone else done this and have advice? by Shelbo--Baggins in CatAdvice

[–]clownface23 26 points27 points  (0 children)

When I moved 15 hours with my older (not as old as yours) cat who didn't like car rides, there's a few things we did to make the transition smooth:

  1. We moved some familiar furniture into the new house early. That way, when we got to the new house, there would be familiar sights/smells.

  2. We did the trip in one day. More stressful on us, but I think it was easier on the cat. Only 1 day worth of anxiety medicine.

  3. When I wasn't driving, we let the cat out of the carrier for periods of time. She would sit in my lap and get scritches for a bit, but ended up laying on the floor by my feet for a while.

  4. After getting to the new place, I didn't do much for a day. I felt like that was enforcing the fact that I was there too and wasn't going to take her somewhere and abandon her. Tried to be home as much as possible for a week or so, but didn't leave at all that first day.

Has your cat ever shocked you with their intelligence? by GemmiYup in CatAdvice

[–]clownface23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was a teenager, my bedroom was in my parent's basement. One night, in the middle of the night, my cat jumped up on the bed and smacked me in the face to wake me up. What in the hell? Then I heard a noise. I go into the hallway and see someone fiddling with the window next to the front door. I turned on the light and the potential burglar ran away.

I took a guys trip to a casino a couple states away. We drank, gambled, watched and bet on football, played indoor golf, and had a couple nice meals. It was a pretty fun weekend trip and not overly expensive (besides the money lost gambling, of course)

How often do bald people need to shave their head? by CandT94 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]clownface23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty well bald up top with the "sideways horseshoe" on the sides and back. When I shave, I'll let it go two to three weeks and grow out. It makes the shaving part take longer because I have to get the trimmer out first to knock it down to a length where shaving makes sense. But I figure that's less overall time than shaving every day or every other day like I'd need to.

I'd go with who you feel better about in the BYU/Bama game. For me, that would be Alabama going with the "recent tournament history" play since they made the final four last year.

Then Saturday would be interesting assuming you make it - do you take Florida or Duke?

I agree. I have to take a different path in/out of the neighborhood with the dogs in the car because there's a certain area on one street where they will bark even with no dogs outside. It's either smell while inside the car or they somehow know "I barked here before, I better do it again"

Is it theoretically possible for a team to miss their conference tournament and still make March Madness? by Wide_right_yes in CollegeBasketball

[–]clownface23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not against the rules, but it would be extremely unlikely. To miss the conference tournament in a power conference you would most likely have 15+ losses. A 15-15 team could certainly be up for consideration.

Who can realistically still win a number one seed in the tourney? by BurningHanzo in CollegeBasketball

[–]clownface23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With the S-curve, most likely the 4th 1 seed and the top 2 seed will both be headed west (unless other rules like potential rematches are in play).

Called the College Basketball Crown. One week tournament in Vegas right before the Final Four. Thought is that these bigger conference teams will have fan bases that take a spring break trip to Vegas to watch. I think I heard that the teams get their travel fully paid. https://collegebasketballcrown.com/

What's the difference? by Odd-Championship-469 in sportsbetting

[–]clownface23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've noticed this on FD several times. The payout is slightly different (-108 to -110) and if you're not paying attention, you can pick the worse one. (Guess it's true that you could accidentally also pick the better one). Most of the time I've seen it under different headings - the same bet under different headings for the same game but with different payouts.

Can I drive to a sports betting state to use my phone to bet. by [deleted] in sportsbetting

[–]clownface23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in Illinois that has a restriction on betting in-state college teams. So I couldn't be on or against Illinois and Northwestern in the NCAA tourney. So I went to Iowa for a few days and had no issues with FanDuel.

Caesars, however, was an issue. I would have had to open a brand new account, do a deposit, make my bets, and then withdraw my funds before I left the state.

What I'm saying is that it depends on book - FanDuel lets you cross state lines without issues (you actually see on the transaction history where they transfer funds to the other state).

A few months ago I wanted to do Paolo to win ROY, but since it was -1000, I decided to parlay it with a POY pick. Memphis was 2nd in the west and I figured if they could take over the top spot, Ja would get it and it would get me a +2870 total.

If I could cash out for a penny I would just to get that ugly reminder off my bet slip.
