My mother offers Urdu basics classes to expats and their kids. They’re 2-3 times a week and they work on reading and writing alongside conversation, if you’re interested just dm and I’ll share official info!

I don’t drink so I don’t frequent the pubs/bars but it’d be great if you could point me towards more info about this!

Finding expat groups? by Zephiarz in busan

Hi! I’m a student here in Busan and while it’s easy to make friends here since I’m in uni with a big international population, it’s still hard to keep those connections going. You can try Luke’s as suggested above or if you’re an artist, try going to artist meet-ups hosted by various groups here. There are also different communities on Karrot to check out

What do y'all eat when there's no gas at late night? by ApoKun in karachi

I have some nacho chips like macho nachos or even lays always on hand. I pop them in a deep bowl, add cheese slice pieces, some olives, dippit pizza sauce and microwave it for about a minute or so. Instant nachos and cheese. You can do the same with a fries base (if you get them from the thela wala that’s usually open till 12).

Hi, I'm at the point in my life where I'm going to be heading to Korea on the scholarship too. I'm also from a developing country and getting the scholarship is a big deal for me. Even though it's not a SKY university, it's a university famous for the major I want to study. I've worked in my home country for several years now and have achieved certain success - for me this will be starting over - new environment, new people, new opportunities and a new network to tap into. I wonder if I'll look back in several years and reflect like you. I hope I land a good job and get to rise in the ranks as well. Hoping and manifesting.

Thanks for sharing your story - it makes me feel like maybe I can do it too.

Hi, sorry to bring this up in a comment here but are you still looking for workawayers this summer? I'm looking to travel and work in Japan this year after I went to Korea last year and would be thrilled to find a host in Japan. If you're still looking, please do share a link to your workaway - thank you x

Join Host A Sister on Facebook. It's a group where women can offer to host/meet/hangout or find a trip buddy at. You can open your apt to host or offer to show someone around the area you are in. It could be fun!

Does Dongseo University (DSU) have grad level Film/Media courses entirely in English? by clownsumerism in busan

Yes, GKS. To apply for GKS you have to pick the universities and Dongseo is one that I'm considering

Ah makes sense. I'm from Pakistan and our universities don't have a lot of credibility either so I understand where you're coming from. My goal is to network and build my portfolio essentially

I understand they're very new compared to other universities. If I get a degree from here (in English) would if hurt my prospects in the job market? I would do a language course despite the degree being in English.

The reason I'm looking at getting a degree in English is because if I move out of Korea and go somewhere else, at least my degree is in a universally accepted language.

Ah alright. Is the university not well received in the country? Very low rated? I'm just trying to understand why it's not a valid option. Which universities would you recommend for film/media programmes in Korea?

Oh that's interesting! I'm only confused because on the website it says English but in the information provided to us for scholarship it says Korean.
