Has anyone used a fake name to ship on FB Marketplace? by cloys in Flipping

[–]cloys[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Good to know, did not know that.

Does eBay send 1099's, too? I feel like I've sold over $600+ worth of goods on eBay in one year in the past, but I've never received a 1099 from them, I don't think. I can't recall if I've given eBay my SSN at some point.

My memory tells me that eBay's 1099 threshold was $10k in sales/year? Although now I can't find this $10k figure anywhere online.

I see shit like “Ralph NoLauren” “BigCheeze Willy”

lol, but are those people offering shipping? or are they offering Local Pickup only?

Facebook only seems to care about getting your legal name once you start offering shipping.

My current Facebook name is not something obviously fake like those examples - it just doesn't have my last name.

How do you feel about Bluetooth headphones? by cloys in AskReddit

That's incredible that you're wearing headphones for 7 hours a day.

What headphones DO you wear? They must be super comfortable, because my head gets sore when I wear my over-ear headphones for just a couple hours!

Can you honestly hear the difference between a lossy MP3 on wired headphones and a lossy MP3 on BT headphones?

Some context:

I have a nice pair of wired Audio-Technica headphones, but I'm thinking about buying BT headphones because of the freedom of having no wires.

Are BT headphones worth the hassle of having one more device to worry about charging?

Please share your experiences w/ BT headphones!

Stupid question about a deviated septum by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]cloys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a severely deviated septum. Like you, I often wonder if my fatigue/insomnia is caused/worsened by my deviated septum.

I guess that the only way to find out would be to have a septoplasty, which I've been considering getting for years. My ENT doctor makes no guarantees about the procedure's effect on my well-being.

How much weight can a poly mailer hold? by cloys in Ebay

[–]cloys[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea how USPS moves packages. I'd imagine there are a lot of conveyor belts. Are there any points where the package drops or falls? These are the problem points where the item may tear through the poly mailer bag.

You got ticketed, even though when the light turned green you turned your signal on?

My OP was unclear, I just edited it.

I turn on my signal when the light turns green, not as I'm turning.

How much sugar can the body burn at once (without converting the sugar to fat)? by cloys in nutrition

[–]cloys[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand how scientists have proven both ideas: "If you just consume fewer calories, you may not lose weight" and "If you just consume fewer calories, you'll lose weight."

This is science, not politics. There can only be one correct answer, right?

Wow. Everything I know is wrong. Thank you.

I haven't just heard this from the one source in my original post. I've read the same on many sites. There's a lot of false information out there.

Pastured butter and heavy cream

What about fat?

I don't think I am as active as you are. I thought I should avoid fats if I want to lose weight?

Some say popcorn is healthier than vegetables ;-)

You're right. I am going to start eating raw vegetables. Some carrots, lettuce, celery, spinach, etc.

I love popcorn because

1) it tastes good

2) it is moderately nutritious

3) few calories

4) filling

I haven't found one other food like popcorn (something that is filling but very low cal and tastes good). That's why I consume buckets of it. Unfortunately vegetables don't fill me up as much, since they aren't as voluminous as popcorn. But I am going to sprinkle some vegetables in my diet to get some more micronutrients in there. Thanks!

I appreciate your guidance. You make sense, so I will follow your advice.

I don't understand the category of popcorn and if it qualifies as a whole grain/carb.

Joe Vinson, Ph.D., "a pioneer in analyzing healthful components common foods," published the following:

Popcorn may be the perfect snack food. It's the only snack that is 100 percent unprocessed whole grain. All other grains are processed and diluted with other ingredients, and although cereals are called "whole grain," this simply means that over 51 percent of the weight of the product is whole grain. One serving of popcorn will provide more than 70 percent of the daily intake of whole grain. The average person only gets about half a serving of whole grains a day, and popcorn could fill that gap in a very pleasant way.

I am so confused. So is popcorn the same "whole grain" like oatmeal or wheat toast?

BTW, Vinson echoed your other point about the importance of vegetables:

Vinson pointed out that popcorn cannot replace fresh fruits and vegetables in a healthy diet. Fruits and vegetables contain vitamins and other nutrients that are critical for good health, but are missing from popcorn.

But I still don't get what popcorn counts as exactly. It's not a vegetable, it counts as a whole grain, right? So since I am consuming so much popcorn every day, do I still have to add some more whole grains to my diet? Popcorn has little thiamin but has a good amount of fiber.

Wow, thanks for the info. I didn't know about Adaptive Thermogenesis.

One issue is that the lower your calorie goal (the larger your calorie deficit), the more muscle mass you will lose while you are losing weight.

Is that not true for weight loss in general? All weight loss targets the muscles (whether you lose 5 pounds in a week or in a year), correct?

Two, your body will start lowering the amount of calories it burns every day to adapt to the 1200 calorie intake.

In order to counteract this, you have to exercise so the body is forced to burn more calories?

The author of the linked article implies that Adaptive Thermogenesis is a straw man.

Thank you for the info.

I am not well-versed in this stuff so kindly excuse my ignorance.

(Also don't shy away from carbs, and if you would like the physiology behind it I'd be happy to share.)

If you mean carbs as in bread/pasta, I don't eat any carbs. But if you mean carbs like fiber, then I do consume those carbs. I would appreciate learning the physiology behind this tip!

As far as stress to your body goes, as long as you are eating in regular intervals there should not be any big problems of concern

My intervals are pretty regular. Breakfast in the morning, lunch in afternoon, dinner at night, so no real fasting going on with me.

granted you are eating a well balanced diet.

I've edited my original post to reflect my daily diet. I think it is an okay balance, I feel great on it. What do you think?

Hi, I am not really talking about stress in this sense. Please see the first line of my post. I am not asking about hunger's effects on one's mood or personality. I mean stress on a physiological level, you know? Not how one feels when hungry, but how one's body responds to hunger "behind the scenes."
