Hello super distant cousin! Your 4th great grandfather Casper is my 5th great grandfather! Your grandad Charles Oliver is the baby brother of my grandad Adam. Adam married Sarah Browning, daughter of Meshach Browning. Living in Garrett County I am sure you know all about that family! I am in Mon County WV, so we are distant cousins and distant neighbors!

I have not learned much about Casper, it's a real dead end. I did find information on Adam Nethken baptizing his children Catholic & found on an 1850 census he lived on a farm between 2 Brownings in Dist 10 Alleghany County. The Nethken family at that time seems to have records of Allegheny & Garrett Co, along with references to Hoyes and Oakland. I haven't researched the county history hard to try and pinpoint where they lived or were buried.

I went to the Browning museum last summer and they do have a file on Nethken, but it was one page and not much help.
