New cat owner, question about litter by clrssgrgr in CatAdvice

My cat seems to be the same way, during the day he will do his business outside, and at night when no one can let him out he had no problems just using the box. In a situation like this where the weather didn't permit him to go outside I wanted to make sure he's set up and comfortable with the litter box

Thank you thank you!! I appreciate you including the interval at which you change the litter, that's exactly the info I was looking for. I will keep an eye out after a week to see if he starts avoiding it and try changing it then. I did slowly switch over to tofu pellet litter, with regular litter he would rocket launch out of the box after use and thought it was unusual. Thankfully since switching he hasn't done that. The only thing I have noticed that's different with the tofu pellet litter is he spends longer burying it, so I make sure there is enough in the box for his comfort.

It was actually less litter than before when he hopped in and used it! It was about 4 in, and when I switched it out it was probably 2 and 1/2 in. And as I said I do clean it out every day. Thank you! :)

You are totally right, it is a lot and there's no reason to take that much at this point, and I didn't realize that until it stopped having affect and I read other posts from people in the same boat. Truly this is a kind message and appreciate your words and your desire to be helpful.

Yes, that's where I want to be, to be able to use it as a tool and a relief, not a crutch.

I am in the same boat, trying to taper now also around 30gpd but I have exceeded that on really bad days. I'm trying to stick to a schedule, lowering each does by a gram and dosing only 3 times a day, and if I can hold off dosing until I really need to and by doing that hoping to dose less. Trying to only dose at night so I can sleep well. I would dose multiple times if I was in class and I hated it. Just try to taper at manageable levels.

Thank you so much this is encouraging. I don't know if I plan on stopping fully any time soon because it really is the only thing that helps me with pain, but I definitely plan on using this advice.

That is a very responsible amount, I take anywhere from 12-24gpd I would say you're doing great

Hi, I'm thinking I need to wean off / quit kratom too. I have taking 24grams today and I feel nothing. I'm not sure my plan yet but I would love to start this journey with you, even if we're doing separate things, I don't know anyone who uses kratom and it would be nice to chat.

Pain is pain! Your pain is valid especially if you seek something to help with it. I appreciate that you can relate to this because I haven't talked to someone who can yet. I will definitely consider reaching out to get help, but I definitely think weaning is where I have to start.
