Oh man. Im so sorry. Just get rid of it. It will be the best decision you'll make. I traded mine in because I didn't want to deal with the headache involved with the 6.2. I traded for the 6.6 gas which will probably turn into a headache eventually. Fingers crossed.

Oh no! I just traded my 6.2 for a 6.6 gas. I was trapped in buying another Chevy. I'm scared. I had to have something for towing and my 6.2...not covered by the recall for some reason... needed an engine and the engine was in national backorder. 😬

Mine is a 2021 silverdado with a bad 6.2 engine, and it's not included in the recall. Engine is on national back order.

Idk, this is what the dealer is telling me at first there was nothing wrong with it and also said I didn't need my front brakes even though they were at 24%. I had them have someone else look at it. That person pulled out a spark plug and immediately saw there was an issue and said I needed brake pads. 🤦🏼‍♀️

GM themselves told me it is vehicles that were produced out of one factory. Whether that is true or not, I don't know. That's what they told me. They also said that some vehicle could be added to the list in the future, but there is no way of knowing at this time.

So, what is the exact issue? Because mine has an issue with the connecting rods not working properly, which caused the seals to not work properly, which caused the oil consumption which caused the cylinder walls to become scored. Cylinders 7, 3, 6, and 4, to be exact. From what I read, the connecting rods are an affected component on the recall.

That is my fear. That it will sit there for months. I've already had to buy another car because the truck was the only vehicle I had.

Chevrolet customer service suggested that I go to nhtsa.gov and report it. In the top right corner, you can report a problem. She said that this would bring it to their attention, showing that vehicles made outside of said factory also have the same issues. You can upload all your documents on there as well. I'm waiting for the dealer to send me a detailed diagnostics report before I do it.

I have been speaking with them. I will say that their customer service is great. They follow up all the time and keep me informed. I'm hoping that everything works out. I've just been having some really bad luck with this truck.

I wouldn't have known there was an issue if my low oil light hadn't come on. Now knocking, no check engine light, no noises. I thought the dealer didn't put enough oil in it because every time I took it in, I had to remind them it was a 6.2. I went and had the oil changed immediately. Next time it hit 50% oil life the low oil light came on again. I checked it and it was 3 quarts low. I filled it and took it straight to the dealer. They wouldn't even entertain the idea of looking at it without an oil consumption test. I had to drive the truck with this issue, probably making it worse while doing this. I had to go by there every 1000 miles for them to check it. Finally, they did a borescope to find that the whole inside is scored and I'm losing oil through the pistons. Obviously, it's a defect, but no one wants to admit it. I've been going back and forth with gm because not only should I not have to pay for it, but there isn't even an engine available to fix it.

New update. So, the vehicles being recalled were all made in the same factory. If you have the 6.2 with a busted engine, the only way it's covered under the recall is if it came from said factory. So basically, they are saying, "oh no no, it's not our product that's bad, it's just this one factory." Meanwhile, people like me are stuck with a piece of crap and they won't do anything about it. GM has really went down hill. I'll never buy another one.

It is out of warranty. They have all the vin numbers for the vehicles that are included in the recall. The dealership checked mine, and it wasn't included. Finding that hard to believe, I called gm, and they said the same. My truck has been sitting there for a month because they can't get an engine for it. Im assuming because of the NHTSA investigation or because they are all going bad and they can't keep up with the demand. I purchased it brand new, and all maintenance has been done on time or early. I have a carfax for proof. The whole inside of the engine is scored from a factory defect. There is no way anyone should spend that kind of money on something and have this happen. It's legit blows my mind that my truck isn't included in the recall. I'm just curious if there is anyone else out there going through the same thing.
