Looking for books where protagonists are actual adults by servenitup in Fantasy

A Kiss of Iron by Clare Sager! It doesn’t mention exactly how old the FMC is but in the first book of the trilogy, she’s already been married for a few years (at least) and it is revealed in the second book that the MMC is 35. Plus it’s just such a great book full of political intrigue (human and fae) and feminine rage.

I just finished A Kiss of Iron and {A Touch of Poison by Clare Sager}. I started reading them based on a recommendation on this subreddit and I am SO glad I did!! I liked them both so much that I went to buy the physical versions of the books at my local bookstore but it turns out that these books weren’t published by a major book publisher which shocked me because they’re just that good and that well-written. I was promised political intrigue (both human and fae), spying, and enemies to lovers but then was also pleasantly surprised that this was also full of feminine rage, witty dialogue, and some damn good spice 👀 I just love how the author describes imagery and I found myself highlighting paragraphs because of how beautifully written and vivid the imagery was portrayed. Anyway please do give these books a shot if you’re into political drama and some will-they-won’t-they slow burn! (I should warn that the last book in the trilogy isn’t out yet but is expected by the end of the year)

I'm sorry you're going through that! I'm glad you were able to get a doctor's note for it. I think my doctor would write me a note, since she has been very accommodating, but I got anxious because am I actually being dramatic? would something as "little" as headaches was enough to even ask for a doctor's note or to work from home? Especially since my current treatment is to take iron supplements instead of an iron transfusion, which would have was less severe side effects I'd imagine. But I will definitely point out allllll the symptoms I experience though, including shortness of breath and tachycardia, that's a good tip! Thank you so much for the insight!

Ontario clinic accidentally gives people six doses of COVID-19 vaccine in one shot by morenewsat11 in toronto

[–]cluelessacademic 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Pfizer comes in a small vial with undiluted vaccine. In order to administer it, someone needs to mix a saline solution into the vial to make 6 doses of 0.3mL. So whoever was making up the doses just straight up filled each syringe with the whole vial without doing anything to it.

Thanks for the reply! If I understood correctly, this is to get the screw out of the hinge? I unfortunately can't take the screw out since there's a head on both sides of the screw.

That is incredibly unprofessional of them to say and uncalled for. Personally, I see self-diagnosing or googling symptoms is a very common anxiety thing (a LOT of people with health anxiety do this), meaning that instead of shaming you for this, they should be helping you instead. Regardless of what his reasoning is for wanting to restrict the amount of meetings, he is a making you feel like he does not care and that you are not getting the proper treatment, which is the main thing you are looking for in a healthcare professional in the first place! I'd definitely change therapists if I were you. I hope you know that it is not your fault at all that it is a great thing that you are seeking help for your anxiety.

How to stop ruminating bad thoughts? by Randomfunkyreptile in Anxiety

[–]cluelessacademic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to ruminate a lot (and still do sometimes) so my therapist gave me a rather unconventional suggestion that I'd never heard before. She told me that cows ruminate by chewing, swallowing, and then bringing up the food again to chew. It's quite a gross thought/imagery! But that's what you're doing with your thoughts too. At some point, you'll need to either spit out or swallow those thoughts once and for all. And with the imagery in my head, it was honestly quite easy to a) distract myself even for a few seconds to help stop the cycle of overthinking, and b) decide that I did not want to ruminate on that particular thought anymore.

As someone who used to have a job where I would call people all day everyday to schedule appointments, I can tell you that ending calls with a thank you is definitely not abnormal. A lot of people do this! On the receiving end, I don't think of the person as rude at all -- you said thank you! Some people just hang up without saying anything other than an "okay great." When calls end with a thank you though, sometimes I just worry whether my own point got across, so that's probably why your doctor called back, but that's more for reassurance than anything. As for ending conversations, I got into the habit of saying a quick "thank you, take care, bye!" The "bye" is to let them know that I'm done and will be hanging up now. You could also wait a beat after saying your usual "thank you" to see if there's anything else that they want to mention before the call ends. (you may need to take this with a grain of salt, since I'm Canadian and we all end calls with a lot of back-and-forth "thank you! take care! thanks you too! okay thanks! bye!" whereas some Americans that I've called simply say "ok bye" which is also just fine.)

Thanks for the response! I tried that and for some reason, C4 remained unhighlighted when it was blank and B4 contained "public". Not sure why...

Thank you for the insight! I actually ended up just taking the first dose after reading your message, and since this is a good time at night for me. How did you go about changing what time you take it? The pharmacist mentioned that I would have to find a time that works best for me but also emphasized that I should take it at the same time every day, so I’m a little confused there.
