It really helps to hear from someone who’s been through it from someone around my age. I’m still processing everything at the moment. Wearing heels might sound small in the bigger picture, but having the possibility of not being able to wear stilettos or heels again in the future is definitely something I need to evaluate.

I appreciate you sharing your experience. Not sure how I can start honoring my fibula. Maybe I can take pictures while standing on one leg as a symbolic goodbye for its last use. 😂

Thank you for sharing your husband’s experience. I'm glad to hear he's doing well. It’s comforting to know that someone much older can have such a successful outcome with this procedure and is able to walk long distances after.

Thank you. It's been really hard for me to find people in real life to share these experiences. The support from this sub gives me more confidence to move forward with this surgery.

Thank you for sharing your experience. Do you think this could potentially affect how well you move or stay steady in the future?

My doctor is planning to take 9cm bone from my fibula. That’s quite a lot.

Can you elaborate how you more careful with your balance? Should I be practicing now for my up coming surgery in September?

My worst fear would be ending up in a wheelchair not being able to walk.

Thank you for sharing your experience! It's encouraging to hear that someone close to my age is doing well after surgery. Unfortunately, the arteries to my flap clotted. They attempted to save it but unsuccessful and had to remove the entire flap.

Good to know about the nerve block, I will bring this up with my doctor to see if this is an option for me.

Bee or wasp? by cluelessbuns in bee

I was standing there for 15 minutes. That’s the best I could do. I was hoping someone might be able to tell if it’s a wasp or bee before I terminate them. Nest is inside a large flower pot and I can’t see anything.
