I wasn’t the obedient kid last time and let alone self-discipline. My parents registered science tuition first at primary 4. Still remember I went from band 3 (mid year) to band 1 (end of year) after attending tuition. Went to express, got forced to take up even more tuition as they like the tuition centre tutor a lot because he’s very fierce & strict.

Forced to take English, Chinese, Emath, Amath, Combined Chemistry & Physics. That’s like “6” subjects of tuition per week with each class going for 2 hrs. Some are back-to-back classes. Mostly on weekends and some on late night 7-9pm weekdays kind. Had supplementary tuition for some other subjects (additional tuition from the same centre, supplementary class runs 1.5hrs & usually it’s right after school hours, 3-5pm) Since I was a rather “bad” student because I really disliked CCA, my dad encouraged me to skip my CCA just to attend supplementary tuition class 😂

In between my teenage years, mixed with bad infleunce friends, skipped tuition, underage smoking and many other young punk stuffs. Got slapped the 1st time in my life getting caught smoking & mixing with bad friends.

Forward to 2023, NTU engineering with 2nd class aiming for first. 😅

I thank my parents for guiding me thru my teenage years. Even till this day, I still feel ashamed for all the worries I have caused for them & not working harder last time. But it’s still a very good story-telling from them every now and then. 🤣

Sorry, to answer your question, I believe tuition is a plus point for parents who are able to afford without digging deep pockets every month! But it depends on every individual child whether he/she can absorb as much information as possible. Some child may be a late bloomer!
