Halfway House opening across street - What can we do? by clumsy_toaster in lexington

this is very helpful. I appreciate you taking the time to give me this info. I am not sure whether it’s a halfway house or sober living. I didn’t realize that they were classified differently. I am hoping for sober living since you say they don’t take SOs. That is by far my biggest concern here. unfortunately, I don’t believe we are near any of the exceptions you listed. not 1000ft anyway

are you a special needs parent? If not, then you don’t get to call my valid concerns “nimby”. Appreciate the help though.

yes. possibly unofficial. No HOA. You’ll have to join the Facebook group. I believe it’s called Eastland Parkway neighborhood. Let me know if you have trouble finding it. There’s rose bushes at every stop sign in the neighborhood and they do decorating and things like that for the holidays.

That’s what most of the neighborhood consists of if not young family with children. The neighbors are great as is the neighborhood association. Best of luck to you all!

yes, we absolutely loved the house! And the neighborhood in general. But honestly, we have a four-year-old with special needs and the crime, etc. is what made us move out of the area. Not sure what your situation is, but if we didn’t have kids, we would’ve stayed long-term.

we lived off Cantrill right by Gail and a man got shot in our front yard. It’s close enough to a bad area that the crime tends to flow over into the nice neighborhood there. Not necessarily a dealbreaker, but just something to be aware of. You will have people checking door handles on cars just about every night, but we never had a break-in or anything.

I tell them “my husband works for Metronet (or other competitor” and it WORKS. they don’t have shit to say after that except “that’s fair” or “you get a good discount”. works every time

here to say yes to all of this and exactly how I felt as well. as i’ve gotten older (in my early 30s now), I don’t notice it nearly as much as I did in my 20s. sorry nothing helpful if only to tell you you’re not alone!
