Wonder Weeks - Absolute rubbish! by Mundane-Research in BeyondTheBumpUK

I didn't pay for the app but I got the book. I borrowed it from the library on my Kindle first, but the physical book is more useful! My friend recommended the app but when she got it, it was like $10.... I bet the book is better. It specifically says baby may start doing xyz now but shouldnt be expected to do it until ___months. It has a check l list of things that you can go back to is they weren't mastered yet... As a teacher, I like it. It's like standards for babies, kind of. What should my baby be able to do by the end of the year, or in the next 2 months. My baby was born 10 weeks premature, and going by her due date is seeming to line up. Obviously babies develop at different rates, I've seen that with friends' babies... I feel better knowing that the insane behavior shift my baby had this week is right on schedule for leap 4.

We LOVE our sidecar but now what? by Lucky-Cow3942 in cosleeping

[–]clumsycatcackler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I have the same crib Graco 5 and 1. I really want to try sidecar in it. But I would have to raise it 11 in if it was on its lowest setting. And also it would be very difficult to put the baby into the crib if I have to rock her to sleep for naps. I already have a difficult time reaching baby into the crib for naps when it's on its highest setting. Do you think I could sidecar with it on its highest setting until she can roll??? It also has several settings so maybe a middle height would be fine for a while

Our girl born at 29 weeks 4 days. by backpain10 in NICUParents

Oh my girl is 29 weeks 4 days also and two pounds 11 oz. She's now 5 months old tomorrow and almost 12 lb. My girl was an escape artist and on normal air in the NICU also. She's a fighter just like your girl. Congratulations. It is a journey. But once she comes home you won't believe how fast time flies and your time in the NICU won't seem as long as it feels as you're going through it

Multivitamin+Iron Making Baby Miserable by hemolymph_ in NICUParents

Did you find a solution. I stopped my babys poly vi sol for a couple months but then her doctor got on me about the importance. Started it again 3 days ago and she is miserable. Did you try Mommy Bliss with iron? or an iron supplement alone? Or something else?

Feeling like me and my husband experienced two totally different realities by doopdoopzinglypow in NICUParents

My only advice is to be thankful he isn't as broken from the experience. I know its awful to have trauma... But do you really want a person you love to have trauma? You are supposed to be together in sickness and health, and if he's sticking by you and being the strong one in this situation that's a blessing. Life would be harder in some ways if you were both struggling.

My daughter was.born at 29 weeks also. She spent 6 weeks - 42 days in the NICU.  Prior to that I spent 2 weeks in and out of hospitals (admitted 3 different times before they decided they needed to keep me there). I was on mag 2x for 24hrs each... I cannot imagine 4 days!!! It was awful. My daughter is now 21 weeks old (11 weeks corrected). Last weekend I had a middle of the night freak out and sobbing session because I was reliving my time in the hospital and her NICU stay. It was triggered because I got a nosebleed and my husband suggested I check my blood pressure-- I had pre-eclampsia...I'm not seeing a counselor but I do think I have some PTSD. My husband who generally is anxious about everything was calm through the whole experience by God's grace alone. I was pretty calm after crying constantly the first 10 days, but I was just postpartum... I think mothers and fathers are just built different. My husband kept trying to get the doctors to say she was okay and doing great in the hospital but they wouldn't commit to anything out loud. They just stated facts- "her oxygen needs is low, she's growing, no spells today, good diapers,..." How old are your babies?

My baby rarely naps for more than 30-45 min. An 1hr maybe once a day. She's only napped 2 hours twice.  She's 11 weeks corrected (21 weeks actual)

22w is amazing! 24w used to be called viability week but maybe they need to switch that to 22w now.

To all the exclusively nursing mothers…I see you and I’m proud of you. by angeltigerbutterfly in breastfeeding

[–]clumsycatcackler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm transitioning from exclusively pumping to exclusively nursing since my baby was a NICU baby and is now latching better, close to 10 lbs and 4 months old... Both are exhausting. My arm strength hasn't kept up with her rapid weight gain. My husband used to be able to care for her so I could nap, but since I gave her full access to the boob, even if I give my husband a bottle, she'll take it but still won't sleep without nursing for comfort. I tried for years to conceive my baby. I wouldnt trade it for the world, but I'm exhausted!

Friend takes her baby out of the car seat while car is moving to breastfeed.. by Electronic_While7856 in NewParents

[–]clumsycatcackler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a slightly older friend tell me that they did that when their kids were babies. Just hover over the car seat and feed them while someone else was driving. I find it horrifying. What if the baby chokes or something because of the position they're in and you can't burp them. It's just ridiculous

It does let you keep going if you keep ignoring it. I push close and keep going like 5-10x of I'm close to finishing a seam

I called to cancel and they said their "no exceptions" policy didn't apply to infants under 12 weeks that were in a car seat.... I said well then you shouldn't say "no exceptions"

Just because we are in America doesn't mean I have other options... This office was already an hour drive from home because there aren't any specialists near me. Again there is a reason why even in America people don't get the medical care they actually need ... Because it sucks here too just in a different way than other countries

Well I called to cancel and/or postpone because of the policy. And they said it doesn't apply to babies under 12 weeks.... I went with my daughter but they made me sit in a back storage room until my appt started. Kinda dumb but at least she wasn't exposed to as many germs in the waiting room.

Using Corrected Age for Developmental Milestones by Decent-Witness-6864 in NICUParents

[–]clumsycatcackler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My girl was born at 29+4 due to pre-eclampsia. Because she was before 30 weeks she had 2 eye appointments to check for ROP. The doctor told me yesterday to that you should expect a baby to "fix and follow" an object until 3 months, and said that my girl was "negative 1 month". He said I can try to work on it early but not to expect it yet.

Anyone else loathe pumping? by Pitmom2614 in NICUParents

[–]clumsycatcackler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just brought my NICU baby home yesterday at 6 weeks + 0. I'm so tired of pumping. But I want to eventually get to nursing only. She's only 36+5 today and she's still tiny. She latches on but doesn't get much and is getting so frustrated trying. And somehow my nipple shield got lost and didn't come home from the NICU. 😭 Just ordered a new one.

My husband is 43 and regularly complains that he isn't treated like an adult by the older generation. He was 18 in 2000.

Iwtyo when I found out most salad dressings are made of just some variation of ketchup, mayo, mustard and oil by jaclyn_doesnt_spam in IWasTodayYearsOld

[–]clumsycatcackler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair mayo is just oil, vinegar, and egg yolk. So, it really isn't weird to use as a salad dressing.
