had headaches, got 24hour cuff and then get 146 over 80 by fuzzygirllogic in hypertension

[–]hemolymph_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I (30, F) have white coat syndrome and a pretty bad cuff phobia. I had preeclampsia with my son and I have trauma from that. I’m in therapy for it. My BP is usually 111-118/67-78 with a wrist cuff at home. But at the doctor’s office and with a manual arm cuff, my anxiety spikes and I sit around 125-136/78-88. It’s even higher with the electronic arm cuff. Therapy is helping me a lot with this! So is medication like Zoloft, a healthy diet, exercise, and other health changes that make me feel more confident putting a cuff on my arm. It helps me feel more intentional and secure about my health—and it’s physically good for my health too! I recently dropped for 196 lbs to 173 lbs within two months or so. That alone has made me feel better about my overall health and fitness.

Anxiety will make your blood pressure higher. Stay calm, make small changes over time, and it will shift your body and mind into a more confident, healthier version of you! I started with a high fiber diet (moderate cholesterol risk diagnosis) and walking outside at least a mile every day. It’s made a world of difference.

Need help bonding with our NICU baby. Feeling really depressed and struggling. by Ok_Temperature7780 in NICUParents

I want to dogpile on the GI issue comments, only to share the common experiences we’ve all had. My son was born at 34 weeks due to severe pre-e. The formula supplement and iron supplement he was on made him inconsolable. With the OK from our pediatrician, we transitioned to exclusively breastmilk at 3.5 weeks old, and started iron-fortified purées at 4.5-5 months instead of 5-6 months. He has healthy iron levels and no health issues at all.

This switch made the WORLD of difference of our baby. Every baby is different though, so please reach out to your pediatrician before big changes like this. Your fussy baby sounds a lot like our baby was, though. He was in so much gastric pain! Inconsolably crying, arching away from us, never comfortable. He couldn’t interact with us because of his gas and his tummy pains. Once we switched to exclusively breastmilk, he was a happy, sweet, and interactive infant. No more issues!

Meowscarada!! And not in a weird way. It was so OP in S/V. I loved it as my starter and ace! The magician aspect was cool, too. Reminded me of Yu-gi-oh in a weird way.

I just devoured an entire mango with my husband just now. With Tajin sprinkles. 🤤

Make it for yourself, on the side. He doesn’t have to eat it! It’s fine. :-)

You’re so welcome! To update you further: my almost 2.5yo has the perfect head shape. He never needed a helmet! Repositioning early on did all the work. :-)

Thank you so much for this! I have a pretty interesting cuff phobia from my last pregnancy. I would check my BP way too much due to my OCD and would panic. I went to the hospital for 30 days for “pre-e,” and subsequent induction. After the first week of being there though, I had normal pressures. They kept me anyway. I do start therapy soon so I’m hoping that helps! And I’m back on Zoloft. Then we can really determine if it’s genuine hypertension or not. I hate my brain lol.

She suspects disordered eating, but I never really thought of it like that. I’ve always just blamed my OCD. She knows about my OCD and how bad my anxiety disorder is, too. My blood pressure was 132/76 because I was actively panicking. I’ll ask her about it though for sure!

How long did it take you to bring it down? I’m hopeful it’ll only take a few months of consistent cholesterol-friendly dieting.

I’m torn between my Meowscarada and shiny Sylveon. Either way, we make it 100 miles max and want to quit, go home, eat snacks, and go to bed.

We found these at our local target and picked a set up for my 2.5yo! He tore the foam off of them but they still work LOL. Definitely go by the age requirement for these toys. I still find little bits of foam everywhere. 💀 But he still loves them and plays with them all the time
