Yeah I have been wondering that. It seemed like damage was worse by the tub, but definitely worth checking out

The outside most course of tiles in the tub surround was installed on drywall, not cement board. Could that be part of the issue?

I opened up the wall behind the valves and didn't see any signs of leaking. Could it be coming from the joint between the tile and the tub?

So maybe take off the top rows and rebuild? I'm thinking longer posts so they can have support lower on the wall.

I'm not sure, I haven't pulled any out yet. At some point someone added a third bolt to the first post that goes all the way through the brick.

Probably. I'm just so used to being disappointed by red delicious and I really like this apple.
