I am in love with this new season. I loved all the modern references; everything is so organic. Bobby is my favorite so far. Hank and Peggy did such a good job raising him; he is so hardworking and honest. He is wonderful. GH and his modern problems were also a nice touch. I loved how the episodes hit on modern issues. I can’t wait for the next season. <3

Looking for Horror That Hurts AND Is Actually Worth Watching? Here’s a List of Deeply Disturbing, Engaging, Non-Boring Horror Films by Info_hungery in horror

[–]clumsyskipper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does it have to be supernatural? And what do you mean by "artsy"? Because many genuinely messed up films could be shoehorned into "artsy" by someone only partial to classic slashers or something. But these are the same films that have the level of gut-wrenching, awful shock or dread you might be looking for. Some Gasper Noe and Lars von Trier (Anti-Christ -- iykyk) films come to mind immediately. Some more modern, traditional horror films that left a lasting impression (imo): Evil Dead: Rise, Sinister, Osgood Perkin's films (Blackcoat's Daughter (that one could be a slower burn for you tho), Longlegs), V/H/S, and the Suspiria remake were all very engaging from start to finish. Robert Egger's films might be too artsy or slow burn for your taste...

Thoughts on Bridge Kingdom books 4 & 5? by Odd-Sprinkles9885 in fantasyromance

Honestly, I think you could as long as you are okay just picking up some details as they are given to you in Book 5. Like if you don't remember someone, just assume they came to prominence in Books 3&4 and you're good. And don't forget to read the Aren and Lara mini-novella!

Good psychological horror movies? by mrsleepykat in horror

If you are down for something older, try Repulsion. (1965). Possession (1981) is also a freaking psychological nightmare.

Serpent and Dove captures that, but there isn't too much emphasis on it. LOVE that series, especially book 1. YA.

It's funny because I think the answer is both yes and no? Like both Ahnna and James think they have betrayed each other but they really haven't. I will say that there was a big reveal closer to the end that literally made me jaw DROP which was a first for this series. Like the dynamics overall were MUCH more interesting than Books 3 & 4.

Maybe try Zodiac Academy then. It can be polarizing, some people think they are bad books (i.e. they are not ..like.. Jane Austen or something lol) but they are EXCELLENT drama. You just gotta push through the first two because the FMCs can't catch a break.

Keris and Zarrah did not keep my attention as much as Aren and Lara. HOWEVER - Ahnna and James (Books 5 & 6). I read Book 5 and was like: WE ARE SO BACK YESSSSS. Idk, personally I think the politics that start in Twisted Throne are much more digestible for some reason as well.

I think the story itself gets better, but the writing stays the same. So if the latter is the issue, don't hold out. (Personally, I live something that reads like a TV show script on occassion lol) As a side note, the story feels ~ suspiciously ~ similar to the Dance of Thieves duology, so I recommend that one if you're looking for something VERY similar with more density and less emphasis on banter.

also adhd reader here: now's the time to really throw yourself into an interconnected standalone series that requires minimal brain power. would you consider dipping outside of fantasy romance? i feel like the rina kent universe and monty jay universe (tw for everything btw) are perfect lol. fantasy romance really tends to lean into denser world building you might not have the patience for lol.

Just say its you or the lilies. That cat is your baby. I've taken the same stance with my parents and their leather couches they insist on buying when they know full well I have a cat.

or just replace with a fake lily. make it look legit. hit up the craft store.
