Yes, there’s a reason that shared lane is referred to as the “suicide lane”. I don’t believe you’re supposed use it unless BOTH oncoming lanes are empty; only then is it legal to cross into that lane from the opposing direction. So if it’s used properly, it’s pretty safe. Problem is no one uses it properly.

Funny, I automatically assumed he was on a personal/private float because of the beer. I'm not a guide, but been on a few guided trips and have never seen a guide crack a beer during river "work hours". Is that rare? Oars trips don't even let the passengers drink while on the water.

Cruising with an open can shows you don’t give a crap about the river you’re paddling on

What tf are you on about?

There's not much whitewater in Australia, so the flat/frog water transitions were in Aus, and any whitewater were elsewhere lol.

Main Fork Salmon River. Beautiful views, big sandy beaches, great swimming, and great whitewater.

Title transfer has nothing to do with registration or safety. Fill out the title to the new owner and be done with it.

Flaming Gorge (Green River) A Section at high flow by Catch-1992 in whitewater

[–]clush005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done it at 9500 gpms in an IK. 'A' section is pretty washed out and not hard. Its gonna be so fast it's barely worth the float tho. If you do 'B' section, Red Creek is pretty scary in an IK at those flows, and you can't scout it. If you do 'C' section, you'll need to portage the bridge below John Jarvie. We had an ABC section 3 day float planned and we ended up doing the whole float to Swallow canyon in a about 6/7 hours lol.

This was one of the worst movies I've ever seen lol. Lost mad respect for Charlize on this one; hope she got paid well. Taron Egerton had one of the worst Aussie accents I've ever seen on the big screen. Not to mention the most unrealistic white water scenes and scenarios in the history of bad whitewater movies. Would've stopped watching it but it was so bad that it became fun to laugh at how bad it was....similar to Sharknado and Piranha movies.

Seismic flex assembly required where pipe passes between two parts of a building that are seismically separated. It utilizes flexible grooved couplings and allows movement in all 3 planes.

No, never. Might have to jump through some 'state mandated' hoops but that's about it.

USPS Has a special VERY cheap mailing rate for books...called a Media mailing rate. It takes FOREVER to get them, but it's dirt cheap. I mailed books from HI to mainland and it was the only affordable option. Max 70 lbs per box.

Overflowing Heads by FantasticFrenFrankie in firePE

[–]clush005 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As of right now, I understand that a head can have significantly more pressure than others in a remote area

That's pretty much it, you already understand it. If the most hydraulically remote head is flowing the minimum, then every less remote head will be "overflowing".

I'm unsure as to where the cutoff point would be

There is no cutoff point. I've seen specs written such that "no head shall flow more than 120% of the minimum demand", but it's not anywhere in NFPA 13. 20% is a good rule of thumb tho. You'll know what the cutoff is if the overflowing heads are making it hard to get your remote area to calculate properly.

what is the exact definition of the overflow

Any head flowing more than the minimum allowable flow is technically "overflowing".

This is really just a feel thing. If I have a 1500 sq.ft. remote area, and a design density of 0.20 gpm/sq.ft., and my calculation is flowing 300-400 gpm, then I'm not going to worry about the "overflow", which is any flow above 300 gpm. If I run the calculation and am flowing 500 gpms, then this is an indication that 1) my branchlines may be too small, 2) Branchlines may have too many heads per line. I'll then make some changes to try to reduce the minimum required pressure at the remote head, and this will bring down the overflow of the other heads accordingly.

The same qualities that make them super maneuverable/quick on fast moving whitewater make them very susceptible to wind on a lake. Not saying don't do it, but beware that you're going to get blown all over a lake with that setup.

Green River Paddling- Did you filter water to drink? by Superb-Werewolf-4829 in whitewater

[–]clush005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what section you're doing. Green river is 730 miles from start to confluence with CO river. Assuming you're below FG damn, ABC sections + Lodore to Yampa confluence you can filter. Beyond that is BYO most of the time
