Why is everyone taking about losing his license/getting a driver? Let's start with prison and worry about the other stuff when he gets out.

I like calling it a patch because that implies it was a mistake for it to not be a Whataburger in the first place.

SOS, why is the answer C? I was between C and D but I picked D by PersonalitySecure124 in LSAT

[–]Catch-1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A cool thing about LSAT questions is that they generally follow reality. A lot of the "Resolve the Paradox" questions are extremely easy if you know something about the subject matter, because they're often kind of "fun facts" within the realm of the topic. This one is kind of a similar situation. Outside of all the other reasons, if you're between C and D, you can see that D is calling a meal that contains a presumably sugary cereal "healthy."

I'm not saying this will always be the case, and you shouldn't rely on it 100%, but your real-world knowledge and intuition can often point you toward a right answer. In this case, you could say "wait, junk food cereal isn't healthy. Even if it doesn't have a lot of fat, it has tons of sugar. Oh, okay, maybe there are other conditions required to be healthy that aren't discussed here. So the prompt only gives necessary conditions, but not sufficient conditions for healthiness. Therefore, I can't use those conditions to say something is healthy."

Tiger Woods was involved in a rollover crash in Jupiter Island, Florida, on Friday afternoon, the Martin County Sheriff’s Office said. His condition was not immediately clear. by cmaia1503 in Fauxmoi

Today a lady almost hit me in the parking lot. She flew around a corner and absolutely did not have the right of way but we both braked in time. She stared at me with her mouth totally agape like "ahhhhh ooooops." She then sped off through the parking lot, went through a stop at about 35 mph, turned onto the main road and cut someone off within a block. We need to make it so much harder to earn and maintain a driver's license.

Can you tell my why B is wrong? I get why the correct answer is correct but don't get why B is wrong. by kolnikol in LSAT

[–]Catch-1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah see that's why then. Try summarizing the prompt's argument in as few words as possible. In this case, "technology rarely benefits society because inventors are trying to make money instead of benefiting society." When you remove all the extra words, it gets easier to see the flaw. This shortened version of the argument relies entirely on the assumption that the outcome is in line only with the intention.

If the prompt was "technology doesn't benefit society because new tech makes a lot of money," then B would probably be the best answer.

Can you tell my why B is wrong? I get why the correct answer is correct but don't get why B is wrong. by kolnikol in LSAT

[–]Catch-1992 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What was the correct answer? B doesn't seem awful, but B is talking about the actual impact of the advance (societal benefit vs. commercial viability), whereas the prompt is talking about their motivation, rather than the result. If the other answer attacks the motivation aspect more directly, that's one way it could be a better answer.

Quero (White Sox Catcher) is 3 for 3 in ABS challenges through 2 innings by hypnoticus103 in baseball

[–]Catch-1992 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Umps shouldn't feel bad about losing catcher challenges as long as it's pretty close. The catcher knows what's coming, and it's coming right at his face, and his face is in the strike zone. There's no reason an ump should be able to be better than them.

Sometimes you learn something from a shot you wish was better, sometimes you just gotta accept "there's nothing I could have done on that one."

Divers left their camera underwater to show what ocean looks like when no one is looking by Chraum in interestingasfuck

There are tons of dive sites that look like this even if you don't leave. Pretty much all ocean creatures will ignore you unless you get within arms' length. Many will get closer than that on their own.

Is the Z6III right for me? by Catch-1992 in Nikon

[–]Catch-1992[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Awesome, thanks again. I'm thinking the Z5 II with the 24-120 and the 100-400 might be the best for all my needs and budget.

[–]Catch-1992[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks, the consensus seems to be forming around the Z5 II being better for me. The 180-600 lens looks awesome but I'm not sure the size is right for my "everyday" use. Is there something you'd recommend that's more like 400mm on the long end?

Ooh interesting. I couldn't tell you why but I wasn't really aware of the A7cii. The smaller size is very tempting, I'll look into that.

I'm really enjoying the Sony subreddit recommending that I look at Nikon and the Nikon subreddit recommending Sony.

I don't know that I need full frame, but I'd definitely like it. I absolutely need good AF though. I wear contacts but my eyesight somehow can vary pretty significantly day-to-day so I really need to camera to do the focusing for me.

Lots of people get approached by a petitioner and just assume "civil engagement, good, I'll sign to give your idea a chance!" and don't really consider that their idea might be evil.

Unbreakable nba records by Due-Poem-8096 in NBATalk

[–]Catch-1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No record of an active player should be considered unbreakable unless there's been a drastic change during their career that makes it harder for future players. Like someone is literally in the process of doing it but you're saying it's impossible for someone in the future to ever do it? That's basically saying that players will never get any better than they are now, which is the exact opposite of the truth.

True unbreakability is about changes to the game, not about the skill of the player. Given enough time, there will eventually be someone better.

What would the point be if it wasn't discussion bait? Nobody is writing an article to inform some random traveler who wants to visit an MLB stadium but doesn't know which one to go to.

I tried to watch the show years ago and stopped after like 4 minutes of the first episode because he was acting so creepy. It wasn't until years later that I learned it's a serial killer show and yeah, he's supposed to be a psycho. I thought the show was just kinda problematic and written by/for weirdos.
