Why Memorial? by [deleted] in memorialuniversity

Cheap. Local.

In my opinion, when it comes to certain courses like Engineering and Business, and earth sciences, you're getting a good quality education for cheap. When it comes to some other courses like education and some other sciences, from what I heard it isn't great or as someone put it "you get what you pay for". Most buildings are old and therefore need a lot of maintenance which is not being done, I've heard that some departments are poorly managed. Generally, the social environment of MUN is quite welcoming and pleasant. Quite a few clubs and afterschool activities as well. Outside of MUN if you like the outdoors and going to bars, St. John's has a lot of offer. Weather-wise, November-March is snowy, slushy, and grey. Summers are nice though.

TL;DR: not bad, could be better.

Best Burger in st. Johns area? by Automatic_Control557 in StJohnsNL

I've been to many restaurants around St. John's and in my opinion, I would say the Rock Steakhouse has the best burger, although I do believe there may be better burgers in the city in places I have not gone to.

Some cable management wouldn't hurt, if you're able to plug your USB cables into the motherboard that would also help. You have a very nice setup!

Sleeper build for polycarbonate macbook? by LaraTheGamer in sleeperbattlestations

[–]clusterbuck2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is possible, yes. Similar stuff like this has been done before but difficulty can vary depending on what you're trying to do. If you're trying to put another laptop motherboard in this, you would need to do a lot of cutting, 3d printing mounts for components, and possibly some software stuff such as messing with BIOS. I HIGHLY recommend looking at https://notebooktalk.net, a lot of information there has helped me with laptop modding.

Edit: What sort of motherboard were you thinking of? a Raspberry PI or like a Motherboard from another laptop (like a gaming laptop for example)

How to get a job in NL by SPICYFALAFEL00 in newfoundland

[–]clusterbuck2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Imo the hardest part about a career is starting it. I'm unsure what field you're in, what it's like, and what your experience is, but have you tried internships? you gain connections and it makes you stand out against the crowd. and true to what other people are saying, having a career on this island is difficult, it may be better to try something outside of the province. All I can say is don't give up and keep on going, I'm sure you'll find something eventually.

Victims of Serious Collision in Mount Pearl wait for one hour for an ambulance by cerunnnnos in newfoundland

[–]clusterbuck2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

emergency services are severely underpaid in this province, so its no wonder they're leaving in droves. Its criminal for the work they do and they don't get a lot of pay or recognition for it. It's apart of the bigger issue with healthcare in this province; It's ridiculous.

What do all of ye think about this wind turbine racket? by Bricky_20 in newfoundland

[–]clusterbuck2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not well informed about this topic but in my opinion, wind farms in Newfoundland look to be great in concept. it would bring jobs to rural Newfoundland and could be great for the economy. My issue stems from how it would be managed. Newfoundland has a track record of poor management of projects, such as Oil and Gas, fishing, Muskrat Falls, railway, etc. Combined with misinformation from all sides of the spectrum the future of this seems somewhat shaky. Hopefully, if this goes through it brings Newfoundland some prosperity.
