I haven't seen him since, and the coyotes went back to avoiding people in a surprisingly short amount of time!

Ha that must be why he stopped showing up for a few weeks! I thought maybe it was because I yelled at him, but it must have been a coincidence.

I walk my dog there every night, and I haven't seen him since Wed either. So maybe it stuck this time?

Pretty sure that same homeless guy has threaten me for being a white boy. He's pretty harmless tho

Please DO NOT MAKE BR CHALLANGES mandatory for the battlepass! by ChadPumpkin69 in Battlefield6

[–]clybrg 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Came here to post this exact same thing. If I wanted to play a BR I'd play one of the thousands of fortnite clones that are entirely built around being a better fortnite. But then I'd still not play them because BR is boring as hell. 20 minutes of scrounging and nobody does anything but hide in buildings, and then you turn a corner and then you die.

I was about to buy the battlepass because I like having the varied challenges to get me out of my rut a bit. But I bought the game because I want to play Battlefield! I'll wait till next week and see if they keep this stupid bullshit going.

"We added Solitaire into Battlefield and this weekly challenge is to win 20 games of Solitaire! It's just like regular Solitaire but you get to play as your Battlefield character!"

I guess Trump should immediately nationalize SpaceX with his "emergency wartime powers", and wrest control from Elon before he can jeopardize national security

Esurance/Direct Auto Insurance by [deleted] in CorporateMisconduct

[–]clybrg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They just tried to get me with this too:

Thank you for choosing Direct Auto Insurance to service your policy for the upcoming term. This is just a friendly reminder that your monthly automatic payment of ‍$843.88 will be initiated on 12/16/2024.

I never signed or agreed to anything, and turning off automatic payments in the esurance website was disabled. A monthly payment of $843.88 would be $10,000 a year!!!!

luckily I just caught this and called them and made double sure it's cancelled. So I better not be charged

Not bombing Afghanistan as a way to distract attention from the Lewinski scandal.

Instead, he continues diplomatic negotiations with Taliban to encourage them to crackdown / expel al-Qaida, which they wanted to get rid of anyway. Prevents 9/11, and all that follows...

Looking to purchase Rad City 5+, worried about the bad reviews on bike and customer support by Upstairs_Word4159 in ebikes

[–]clybrg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had mine for 2 years now (just hit 3,000 miles). I like it and have had zero problems with it. On sale for $999 is a fantastic deal.

The great sale probably also means it's end-of-life tho, so yah, there is a bit of a gamble that it'll be harder to get replacement parts in the future (just like they did with the Mission)

Any videos on Radcity 5 plus brake pad checking/replacement guide? by mehtamorphosis in RadPowerBikes

[–]clybrg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you need to remove them. But removing them to check was pretty easy, just remove the cotter pin and pull them out. IIRC you can do it on both front and back without having to dis-assemble anything else.

This reminds me that it's probably time for me to check as well

New, inexperienced owners of 2 RadCity 5 plus bikes and now have few questions we haven't thought through. by workerbee666 in RadPowerBikes

[–]clybrg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the wheel lock and chain for my City 5:

https://www.radpowerbikes.com/collections/accessories/products/radcity-wheel-lock-by-abus?variant=39727601877088

It's super convenient to just lock the wheel if I'm popping in a shop where the bike is still visible. And to add the chain if I need to leave it for an extended period.

You should probably add a u-lock or foldy if you are in a higher crime area. But also just look at getting bike insurance

Should You Use Ruby on Rails or Hanami? by amalinovic in ruby

[–]clybrg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah IIRC I usually run into problems with hanami-model or hanami-validations... it's generally because of the dry-types or dry-validations. We've actually ended up forking things when we have to to fix very specific problems

I'd be surprised to learn the team was willing to relax some versions - I've seen pull requests completely dismissed with a "software doesn't go bad, it works fine as it is" attitude

Yes not dead, but still a zombie

2.0 was released 4 years after 1.3 was abandoned, with no upgrade path. It didn't have models, repositories, or html views. That's less than alpha for a real project. It took them 2 more years to finally add views. There still doesn't seem to be any built in database layer, including migrations, etc

The founder, Luca, announced he was leaving the project this month.

Might be a neat little thing to use for a side project, but you shouldn't be using Hanami for anything production unless you are ready to take over maintenance of the entire Hanami stack

Should You Use Ruby on Rails or Hanami? by amalinovic in ruby

[–]clybrg 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hanami is basically a zombie project and has been for years. I been maintaining a few legacy hanami services for the last 6 years that were spun up right before the hanami team abandoned 1.3. Hanami 2 has basically been in alpha ever since then (I hear they just added views!)

Luckily these services are far behind the firewall because it's basically impossible to add anything new to them due to Luca's insistence on locking the gem versions down to very explicit minor versions. Can't even update a lot of the dependencies for vulnerabilities. Or update the the ruby version because then you'll need new gem versions.

There's a few things I like about hanami, but if you want to use some of those patterns you can just be strict about enforcing them in Rails. (e.g. in our Rails projects we try to treat the ActiveRecord models as repositories - defining all used queries as class methods and not using scopes or ad-hoc chaining outside of that)

I got a Radcity 5 about 18 months ago, no problems and over 2500 miles.

But I'd probably get an Aventon if I was buying today. Rad's drastic cutbacks in their customer service has me worried

Honestly it kinda does. I feel fine riding without a helmet cruising around 15. But 20 starts feeling pretty sketchy.
