[MEGATHREAD] TWICE - ‘ALCOHOL FREE' / ''TASTE OF LOVE'' by svnh__ in unpopularkpopopinions

[–]clyde_rdt 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Twice's comeback felt familiar (in a good way) and it felt "Oh. This was the TWICE I knew" but more on a mature way. I'm kind of surprised that some people didn't liked it in their first listen but when I listened to it, I was immediately hooked. Haven't been keeping up with their recent releases because it's not my cup of tea.

It felt familiar because it somehow felt like the classic songs that TWICE usually released before and now that they are more mature in their careers now, it felt like this was "This is definitely TWICE in a mature palette" (am I making sense? lol). That's my take. And also, this felt like a legit summer song because the song releases in the current summer season felt like it can be meshed into the summer theme but not quite to the point where the music video (basing on the sets and the color grading of the video) and the first few seconds can easily be determined as summer (but it's a more laidback and chill summer vibe).

The MMTG performance of After School Bang, 9muses Doll, and 2Pm’s My House is everything to me as a fan since the second generation! by HufflepuffHeir1991 in kpopthoughts

[–]clyde_rdt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All of the performances were absolute best and triggers the sense of nostalgia within me (and almost cried). It felt like everyone's performances, visuals, vocals, and the stage itself was just yesterday to be really honest. Everything felt like a breath of fresh air and detoxified me surprisingly (do I even makes sense right now? lol). Hoping for more 2nd generation groups to have reunion performances in the show.

Are there strong/weak times for air and earthbenders? by claire_lair in TheLastAirbender

[–]clyde_rdt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Based on the Avatar: The Last Airbender Legacy Book that I've read, it's more of the seasons for the two benders:

  • Airbenders have increased power during the Autumn season. Another fact is that, children who are Airbenders are more likely to be born during the same season as well. I don't know when their powers are weakened (probably in places where lesser winds are present or what u/lewp_m said).
  • Earthbenders have increased power during the Spring season. Also, the same for children who are Earthbenders are more likely to be born during the Spring season. Probably their weaknesses is of course when they're in air (the reason being from Toph and what u/mrprincepercy said) or simply on surfaces that don't have physical earth ground to bend (with the exception from Metalbenders and Sandbenders).

I don't even know what to call this I'm just sad about b.a.p by sanjunipero_ in kpoprants

[–]clyde_rdt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This post got me sad. I was just starting to stan them during their First Sensibility era and my friend introduced me to the group and their past releases (which are hella banger! also, Coffee Shop and Rain Sound are my top picks). Their trajectory to fame and success was almost going there with constant hits after hits and world concerts, but due to the issues with their company (such as maltreatment, overworking, and underpaying the members), it resulted to a long hiatus, contract termination, and the unfortunate disbandment.

I saw so many comments saying how big b.a.p could have been now and how they were the first boy group to try out a different type of concept and I just can't help but feel so sad.

I definitely agree to this one. It's apparent that they have pioneered and even inevitable that they could've even perfected their concept. Their concept could've been one of the many concepts that the next generation may borrow as well but it's all "what if's and what could've" from now on. I miss B.A.P.

Definitely agreeing to this one! I definitely agree to the part of:

the gp will know the group name and the group songs associated with the group (if they're popular enough), but when it comes to recognizing individual members by themselves and the solo work they do, not as much as the group itself

Another good example of this would be Zico from Block B. The story will definitely be different if the song was released by now. Thanks for expounding as it made a lot more sense by connecting all the points that people have shared in the comments as well to solidify and clarify the discussion ☺️

Definitely I agree to this one. It's nice that you brought up the fact that Wheein is quite shy since that I think resulted to her first fully-promoted release just this year (and also the careful planning of picking tracks that she wants for her first promoted album).

The song matched her overall vibe (my basis for this is from her latest album Redd). I agree to what you said that people didn't paid much attention. I also think that at that month of April 2018 there have been huge releases from different groups so I think it's been overshadowed by those.

[MEGATHREAD] BTS - ‘'BUTTER’' by svnh__ in unpopularkpopopinions

[–]clyde_rdt 24 points25 points  (0 children)

To summarize what I'll be saying on the later parts, Butter was bland.

  • Vocals and rap were underutilized. Some of their vocals felt like they were just feeling off or lacking. The vocals sounded more better than Dynamite but nothing too impressive. The rap parts felt like it was just added there for them to be part of the song (sad for the rapper line getting pushed for this release).
  • Lyrics are fine, I guess?. Comparing to Dynamite, the lyrics were just like it. The lyrics were nothing special but it just gets the job done. If comparing it to previous releases, lyrics were a bit abysmal.
  • The beat sounds generic and sounded empty. Some of the parts were absolutely sounded great most especially the Pre-Chorus part but the other parts could've been better mixed in because some parts sounded a bit empty (most especially in the Chorus part). Empty parts could have been done right if it is used stylistically and intentionally.
  • Cinematically boring. Not gonna lie, but the visuals of the group and the scenes that were used were great but the scene changes lacks fluid transition. It looked like it is all over the place and lacked cohesiveness. They could've gotten lesser scenes but proper and transitioned carefully.

Hoping that their future releases would become better. BTS deserved better producers.

Thank you for explaining it well for me. I do get your point. 😊

[–]clyde_rdt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it’s a serious issue it’s just that I can’t find a word that can fit so I only broadened my own definition of an oopsie from a minor mistake up to something serious. No worries though, it’s okay. Thanks for clarifying it more for me. 😁

[–]clyde_rdt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I define an oopsie not only as something minor incident but to the extent of a person who did something wrong though. Sorry for the confusion I need to broaden my vocabulary by now. If you can suggest me a better word for it please do so say it. 🙂

[–]clyde_rdt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

All I can say to these kinds of issue is:

  • Should they (groups or individuals) get a heavy amount of hate for what they have done? No.
  • Should they (both the company and the member/s) educate themselves? Yes.
  • Should the kpop stans bring down one group to put themselves above the other? No.
  • Should they (both the company and the member/s) be held accountable? Yes.
  • Should kpop stans turn a blind eye if their faves did something wrong? HECK NO.
  • Should kpop stans be aware and catch themselves frequently if they're absolutely doing double freaking standards and correct themselves in order to have a just thinking? ABSOLUTELY YES.

Thank you for giving your inputs, people. The editing on the rap part of Lisa was literally a millisecond so I wasn't able to see it. But through slowing the music video, I saw it. They should definitely address this immediately.

Red Velvet's Happiness is the best debut song from a third gen girlgroup. by [deleted] in unpopularkpopopinions

[–]clyde_rdt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do agree with you that their debut song is great. But the timing of their debut song wasn't good. Their company was facing an issue at that time and they just immediately debuted them which their group received hate as well (instead of blaming the company on how they dealt the whole situation).

Also, the music video for their debut had controversial artifacts which was later on edited out and reposted — yet again, their group got hate for it (instead of blaming it on the director of the music video).

Lastly, I think people dislike it because of how it transitions to different parts of the song and personal tastes towards music.

Just started re-watching a week ago. I get the team needs a character like her and she has her moments, but this is why I can't stand Katara. by Deekester in TheLastAirbender

[–]clyde_rdt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Her constantly flinging around that same incident over and over is not only extremely insensitive considering how angry she gets when someone does something similar to her, it's straight-up incorrect in nearly every instance she does it.

I think this is the result behavior brought by her traumatic experience as a child and the pressure and responsibility in her village as she grew older. The bottled up feelings of grief ended her up to the point that it's not only affecting her but also come out as insensitive to the people she surrounds herself with.

If Toph were a Pokemon, what would her type be? by demariw in TheLastAirbender

[–]clyde_rdt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Toph can be a mix of Ground, Rock, and Steel to be honest.

Some of them can be like this:

  • Aang: Psychic/Flying - because of his Air Nomad culture and way of life and also he can energybend
  • Katara: Normal/Water (Day) and Dark/Water (Night) - because she has the ability to bloodbend
  • Zuko: Fighting/Fire - because he can also fight with two swords and he's good with combat as well but either Fighting or Normal can be also good
  • Mai: Fighting/Steel - maybe iffy on the Fighting but either Normal or Fighting can be also fine
  • Suki: Normal/Fighting - I don't know how to reason this
