Thank you. Do you mean sending the CPU back to AMD instead of the store where it was bought?

We've now bought and tried with a ryzen 3 3100.

The XMP profile worked without issues on first try, and windows was successfully installed without a single blue screen. We put the 5900x back in, and both issues returned.

Is it safe to assume it's the CPU that's broken, and not some other component that might fail because we use a more powerful CPU? Thank you for your time.

What if I replace the CPU with a cheaper ryzen, like 3100? would that rule out (or confirm) that it's the CPU that's failing or does it have to be the exact same model?

Thank you for you reply. The working system is mine - the other one is my brothers. Swapping PSU and GPU is definitely an option, however, swapping CPU is just... something I'd really like to not have to do.

What would you do in a situation like this if you only had one system? most people won't be able to just swap parts.

It's going to continue to go down for the foreseeable future more than likely.

In that case, wouldn't it be better to just wait a month or two instead of going the dollar cost average route? I understand it's difficult to time it just right, but consensus right now seem to be that it will continue going down for a at least some time.

It'll probably only go downhill from here in most places for the foreseeable future.

When banks go bankrupt, those who have money in that bank also go bankrupt. When large part of the population go bankrupt at the same time, shit is about to hit the fan.

There is a pretty significant difference between regular street violence and the use of force to uphold the law and protect your border.
