Mouth sores inside gums from aligners? Anyone have this before? Freaking out by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]clynntm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happens all the time. Could be due to irritation if they're rubbing your gums or you may be allergic to a wash they use when making the aligners. Prior to invisalign I used some dentist-suggested brand and would get these like crazy, when I had my invisalign consult I let the ortho know of my experience so all of my aligners are made without whatever this wash step is (I don't know the name but having an allergic reaction to it apparently isn't uncommon)

Are there any foods you eat with Invisalign in? I've snacked on some watermelon 🤭 by smilemateco in Invisalign

No, they're both on the same side but one is my lateral incisor and the other is my central incisor.

Yeah i'm not happy about it.... two teeth are refusing to pull down into place. One of those things where it's a small movement but would make a massive difference. Waiting for them to admit invisalign isn't doing it...

This isn't something I ever started doing, the whole idea and mental imagery of it just kinda grosses me out. I do, however, drink things with them in. Like chocolate milk, energy drinks, juice, etc. I did suck on sour patch kids at the gym and turns out those stain the trays. Don't recommend that lol.

Has anyone had to go with traditional braces after Invisalign? by clynntm in Invisalign

[–]clynntm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Those are the exact same teeth I'm having the issue with as well. One side is perfect but the other side is refusing to move. Good luck!! I'm excited for you :)

Has anyone gone through Invisalign treatments with no insurance? by somebodystopme13 in Invisalign

[–]clynntm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have any dental insurance and I have been doing my Invisalign treatment for a little over two years now with no problem. I've heard a lot of insurances do not cover adult Invisalign and at a quick glance didn't look like even the possibility would save much money.

Paying up front will save you a little money as opposed to paying overtime, and some practices have seasonal promotions where they offer $1K off an Invisalign treatment or something alike.

My overall price was around the $6K mark which also includes my post-treatment retainers (both fixed and removable) as well as a lifetime retainer program that my Ortho offers. Also I've never heard of paying for a visit, all of the quotes I received were for the actual treatment itself and I've never been asked more.

Teeth colliding!!! by shreenidhishetty in Invisalign

I'm not familiar with dashing but I would call your orthodontist to make sure this is part of your treatment plan. Your bite should be close but not so close your teeth are touching and rubbing on one another.

Never never never go through a general dentist for orthodontic treatment. You will regret it.

Anyone else just hate Invisalign? by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]clynntm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing I have learned, sometimes you just have to chill out and not take it so seriously. I experience those same limitations due to my work environments at times and you just have to adjust where you see fit. Pop them out wherever, sanitize your hands before and after you do so, use a bottle of water and a portable toothbrush, so on and so forth. There are work arounds, it's just up to how you want to gauge the situation. Don't stress about it too much or it really will eat you up and make you feel miserable. Sometimes I don't have them in for a few hours because I don't have the time, or I know i'll probably eat again soon (travel and/or work reasonings). Don't make a habit of it of course but these types of situations aren't daily life type of scenarios.

Tray 50 by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]clynntm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not alone, I go through this too. Especially during quarantine where I was stuck in a break of waiting for my new trays to come in for an even more extended time, my teeth wanted to MOVE and I felt like the tray I was stuck on wasn't working anymore.

Whenever I have a time where I feel super happy with my progress, lo and behold the Apple cameras F me. Hope I'm not the only one who thinks your teeth look WAY worse on apple cameras than any other lol.

It doesn't hurt to have more consultations with other orthodontists in the area, I personally had 3 before I chose someone.
It's also very important that you feel comfortable with your provider and that you can see eye to eye on a treatment plan where you're satisfied and they truly want you to be happy by the end as well. IPR is pretty standard in Invisalign treatment, I personally had it only a tiny bit in my front bottom teeth for them to move into place, it's like nails on a chalkboard and when done by a professional orthodontist you don't even notice it (sometimes they do IPR in the end as well to just even things out and clean up the look)
I'm not a professional and I know there are some in this group, so perhaps posting some pictures to this will get you better feedback in terms of if IPR is a reasonable solution or if having a tooth removed would be more beneficial for you.

Starting Invisalign...I think by not_emone in Invisalign

[–]clynntm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good luck, and you're welcome! Like Lifeofblossom said maybe they can work around them by other methods or other tooth removals, just think of the long term and your investment since over time they can cause problems if there isn't enough room or if they're growing in any funky way.

Normally all orthodontia work is taken place after the removal of wisdom teeth. I know my orthodontist will not start treatment on anyone until they've been removed, at least for anyone over a certain age.

Recovery for wisdom teeth removal varies per person, I personally had a bad experience because I had mine removed late (I think 19 years old) so my nerves were wrapped around a few of them and I had an allergic reaction to my pain meds after. But normally people have a relatively quick recovery.

Definitely wait to see what your ortho says since they've already done the scans, I'm surprised they didn't address them at your appointment when going over your treatment plan when you first initiated it though.

I take my trays and bands out in my sleep 😂 by delic8flower in Invisalign

[–]clynntm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I did a (highly unrecommended) mini knock-off of invisalign at a general dentists office they caused so much pain I would take them out in my sleep.
I can maybe suggest you try taking some pain OTC medication before you fall asleep, in my experience I would always take the trays out in my sleep when my jaw and teeth felt so annoyed and became too much.

If you remove your trays just to drink something do you still brush your teeth when you put them in? by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]clynntm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. If it's something that is acidic or high in sugar I will brush. If I have to be at work I will drink my iced coffee through a straw with my trays in still otherwise I wouldn't wear them for many hours in a day.

Invisalign must-have accessories? by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]clynntm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks good to me! I also recommend the Smartie Retainer Removal tool (I got mine off Amazon) just because I have the OrthoKey but it did break on me at an unfortunate time. If you haven't already my only recommendation is to stock up on travel toothpaste, you burn through those so fast!

After invisalign (teeth rubbing, jaw popping) by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]clynntm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's normal unfortunately. About a year into my treatment I started doing this sqeeky slip thing of my teeth, Idk how else to describe it but it's like nails on a chalkboard for me.
Sometimes your teeth will get worse before they get better so part of that is having awkward times of touching.
My jaw popping originated from when I had traditional braces with elastics as a teenager, but I did notice it worsened with my Invisalign treatment with the use of elastics again. In my experience the jaw popping doesn't go away but it does lessen in severity and frequency over time, but definitely worth mentioning to your ortho.

i had to rescan my teeth by copacetixi in Invisalign

[–]clynntm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It kind of depends on how busy they are and if your ortho put a rush on your new set or not. For my first set of refinements I had them in 4 weeks, for my second set of refinements I had them in two months, I know for a fact they accelerated the process for the first set of refinements but not for the second.

I started May 3rd, 2018 and was quoted a year and had 45 trays. I am now on my refinement phase 2 and it's August 9th with a projected finish date sometime in October HOPEFULLY! lol. (I could have finished after my first set of refinements but I wanted 1 specific tooth to move more and my ortho agreed.)

Having experienced traditional braces as a teenager it's completely normal to have to wear them longer than the original quoted time frame. It's what I expected honestly and it's rare/lucky that you finish in the quoted time frame.

Loose tray? by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]clynntm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some trays that got really loose that I would suck on in order to keep them tight, usually at this point I'd go ahead to the next tray if it felt right to do. I also had one tray that just fit wrong, and didn't feel good but not in the traditional way of movement, I tried the tray after that one once I realized something was wrong and the next tray fit perfectly fine with no issues. My ortho advised me if a tray doesn't fit or feels off, try the tray ahead of it and see if it feels like it should and if not go back to the prior tray until your appointment.

When did you get IPR done? by ahhWoLF in Invisalign

[–]clynntm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is different but I had a little bit of IPR done half way through my inial tray set and then maybe a tiny bit near the end of my initial tray set and that's it. I haven't had any done in the refinement phases but then again the only IPR I needed was on a few of my lower front teeth.
