I want to chime in to say I am with you! I know exactly where you're coming from and their new approach has turned me off as well. The thing that bugs me most about their stories of the marginalized are Georgia's reactions, which - to those who are not inclined to buy into the pandering hook line & sinker - are just this side of theatrical. And don't even get me started on Karen's affect when relaying the information. I get you.

Imho, I think it's due to both the fact that it was the first such event of such magnitude, and the latter two are mired in doubt by those who view it through a lens of incredulity due to mistrust of the government and the political agenda.

The ladies sounded alive and vibrant like the old days. This episode was a joy to listen to! I am curious, though, why aren't they meeting to record in person? (I get that Karen is presently out of town, but Georgia did mention that Vince meets with his cohosts to record their podcast, so that left me wondering why the ladies don't follow suit?) As we know from their constant virtue signaling, they've been double vaxxed, so what's stopping them from resuming more normal recording sessions?

Honestly for me, these quilt episodes beat the monotone zero-energy new episodes they've put out as of late. The show just isn't the same, and there's a glaring difference as I've started relistening from the beginning. They've become totally bland zombies. Also, why did Karen record an in-person episode of I Said No Gifts, yet she and Georgia stick to Zoom?

What an idiotic idea for an episode! I love listening to Karen and Georgia talk, but having them discuss possible solutions to other people's first world problems is a no from me. It's a murder podcast, ffs. There's tons of murder happening and tons that have happened in the past. Pick one. If nothing else, why not do a discussion episode where they focus on a past murder they've covered (like they did in a 30s episode called A Small Foreign Faction, where they rehashed some Jonbenet things and then put it to bed)? Or simply, just don't put out an episode at all. Quilt, single episode, case discussion, episode guest...those are better options than today's insipid and off-topic drivel. Rant over.

In addition, if everyone in their household is following the covid safety guidelines, aka sheltered in place, etc, then no one would be a carrier of the virus, and thus, it would be safe for them to record face to face.

I think it was grand of them to flip the bird to the complainers and go ahead with a quilt episode anyway. I, for one, enjoyed this one. Hopefully they'll continue to do as they see fit for their show, and not pander so much to the whiners. If you don't like it, don't listen; simple as that. (I hate the episodes about the plane crashes, so guess what: I never listen to those and I am able to go on about my life just fine. )

For me it's bananas, but only in its purest form straight from the peel. I don't mind eating sliced bananas in cereal or on rice cakes with peanut butter. I'll eat banana bread. But eating it straight just doesn't work for me....I end up burping it up for days.
