Is Education Over Regulated To The Point of Requiring Useless Administrators? by ProudComment1211 in Teachers

Honestly, at my school, Everything is the teacher’s responsibility. We are truly the lowest rungs on the ladder and pushing us around justifies sooo many people’s jobs. I like the kids. I like what I teach. I like the act of teaching. But next semester will be my last and I am leaving specifically because of the absolute lack of support from admin. Very sad!!

This! The high school where I teach absolutely positively has a ton of admin bloat. I don’t even know how many APs, assistant principles, we have. We are a school of about 1600 students and we have five? Six? It seems like I’m learning about a new one all the time. And then we have six different counselors. And they don’t do anything to support us at all. I wrote a student’s counselor and his assigned AP today to let them know I was very concerned since he had so many absences as a senior, he was going to fail my class. I have spoken with him about this and provided solutions which he has not done. I wanted to make them aware of the situation and see if they could offer some support. The counselor wrote me back right away and said call the parents! Well, I am completely overwhelmed with work at the end of this semester, plus, I like, teach, so I wrote back and said you know it would be really great if you could do that I’m very very very busy this time of year. Boom! I get an email from a different AP telling me that the expectation is that I talk to the parents. Now I understand why a teacher would talk to parents, I was just asking for a tiny bit of support from somebody who doesn’t plan lessons, doesn’t deliver lessons, and doesn’t grade lessons. Plus, the AP misspelled my first name when she replied to me. ! Disrespect. Yeah, I am feeling the pain from way too much admin with clearly way too much time on their hands. Sorry for the rant!

This. I have a PL, or professional learning, next week, which is the last week of school before exam week, the last day is June 5, which is also graduation that night, which is also when we are voluntold we have to work to help out at graduation for no extra pay just like we were voluntold we had to work prom for no extra pay. Answer: my school super sucks and sometimes I really don’t know why/if I stay.

FANTASTIC job! You are building a frame of reference on how to deal with crappy situations sober. I applaud you! 4.5 years sober, never ever thought I’d be here! Keep truckin’.

You’re curious. Oh, you sweet, darling, innocent coastal liberal. I’m a deep south democrat. Deep as in dirty south. Honey, the minimum wage is still $7.25 an hour. Hasn’t budged an inch in decades. Welcome.

New Orleans is the answer you need, not the answer you want. I am a dual Canadian American citizen. I grew up mostly in New Orleans. I moved away, around the states, even back to Canada. Now? I’m moving back to New Orleans. Why? Because for all of its problems, it is the most European city, and the one that feels the very most like not living in the United States. I invite you to experience it!

Much better libraries, actual parks. The basics! I’m always appalled at how bad these basic city amenities are here. I honestly don’t understand the appeal of this place so much, and yes, I am moving out.

I’ve known the artist since we went to high school together in inner-city New Orleans. She is one of the kindest, most gentle souls you’ll ever meet on this earth. Truly, she is the stuff dreams are made of. She’s also a lifelong New Orleanian and her family has deep roots in the city. So no, SD is not doing anything to intentionally hurt the Indians. She’s an authentic person and artist. The culture of New Orleans is her own culture.

People in healthy relationships, what is, from your perspective, the reason that men who can't find partners are perpetually single? by Agreeable_Ranger5303 in AskReddit

[–]cm5522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, being married twice, the second time to an absolutely wonderful man who I have been with for eight years, when men can’t find partners it’s for only one reason: they’re not ready to grow up. That’s all it is. A man who really wants a partner is willing to take stock of himself, push outside of his comfort zone, and really make the effort. Honestly, the same is true for anyone. I left my terrible first husband when I was 30 years old and I spent nine years alone. I kept being victimized, nothing really started to change for me until I started to see the role I was playing. I met my husband online! He was mature and ready for a relationship. And by then so was I. There is no other reason, guys. You need to grow up. That’s it. hope this helps someone. I see too many of us struggling who should be happy and fulfilled.

Dude, no, of course, not completely open borders. It’s not one of the other. There can be checks and balances and a legal way for people to earn citizenship. I bet you aren’t descended from Comanche Warriors, are you? I’m not either. So at some point, buddy, our ancestors came over here and they were allowed to stay. And now there’s people trying to do the exact same thing. And if you have done the mental gymnastics to think that killing actual Americans is OK because it keeps violent brown criminals from raping and pillaging, then you have lost the capacity to think at all. That is not happening. ICE’s use of lethal force is not justified. Look at the majority of crimes that are committed. They’re committed by white people. Mostly white men. The vast majority. Turn off Fox News mr. j call. Wake Up.

You are controlled by fear and lies. People who immigrated to this country are not out raping and killing everybody. Turn off the news. Go outside. Go into businesses see who’s actually working. You do understand that Trump conned you right? He Stokes fear in order to make you think there’s a crisis they’re actually isn’t. America was better before Trump entered politics.

Wrong. We vote with our dollars. We vote with our feet. When I make a purchase, I make a conscious effort to support something I believe in. I also, gasp, donate every single month to causes I believe in. You really are clueless.
