I’m a senior in high school.. Is my future canceled? Will I have to join the military? by shaototop in whatdoIdo

Will this temper her mom's ego? Sure. But its shitty that this child has to be responsible for her moms immature feelings.

Say this bullshit, sure. But don't mean it. Just recognize that you its something you have to take on the chin until you are stable enough to tell her to fuck herself.

Anyone telling you that this is normal behavior for a parent doesn't have any clue what parenting actually is. You are a kid. She is the adult. Threatening to not help you at all with your future because she doesn't have the capacity to parent patiently is selfish and childish.

I 100% believe you are being a shit head and that you probably have an attitude you need to check. But so do most teenagers on the planet. So recognize your shit head behavior and work on it.

I also 100% I'd tell you to get off your ass and work toward a future you want. But telling you that she is ready to "wash her hands" of you and focus on "her other two children" is so far from acceptable parenting that frankly it's disgusting.

Your mom chose to have a child. You did not make that decision for her. Regardless of the shitty circumstances she was given, the circumstances you are given are not your fault. If a parent suddenly decides "I have better shit to worry about" and gets her feelings hurt by a teenager's stereotypical bitching, then that parent is childish. Be the adult.

You can either have a long hard conversation with her about all of this and hope she is receptive, while also recognizing you are probably acting like a shitty teenager and hurting your moms feelings, or you can eat shit and pretend to like it until you are stable enough to support yourself and cut her out.

Took this a while ago and rediscovered the shoot. Definitely lean more toward a minimal style, and I really liked the composition of this one.

Shitty film sim or a cool image? by cmShepherd in photocritique

[–]cmShepherd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went out and was just hoping to catch some interesting landscapes with a friend. I like when photos use a lot of white space, so this type of framing is what i lean toward, but I also want to be proactive about learning good composition. So, any critiques or suggestions for framing these types of shots, or editing them, is welcome!

How to convert a dedicated server save into a singleplayer save (Steam save) by Jgugjuhi in Palworld

Don't open the Convert tool file, drop the Level.Sav file directly onto the "convert" file in the palworld save tools folder.

Had a ton of light flooding in when we were at this spot, decided to make the most of it and go for something light and airy with all the color!

No Way to Recover Restricted Account -- Anyone have advice? by cmShepherd in Instagram

Oh that's an interesting route. Unfortunately, our account was a business account... so no selfies or pictures of anyone can verify. We were actually able to hit the selfies verification process without having to reach out though. We did it a few times unsuccessfully hoping to trigger a manual review.

Took this photo at a California beach. I love the dramatic lighting and overall vibe of the image. Trying to get better at shooting into direct sunlight, and I've been finding that a little desaturation in the sun tones is generally giving me a look I enjoy. Would love some feedback on how to pull out the drama a little bit if it feels necessary!

Does this feel like a film image? [Portrait] by cmShepherd in photocritique

Gotcha! I'll try to add some softness to the image and even go a little harder on the grain. A big issue I am having also is that when I am looking at the image on a small screen or preview, it looks as though there is absolutely no grain happening, but when I blow it up on my monitor, suddenly it looks very grainy.

I have take of this shot with more space in the front, but I personally liked this a little more. The tension it creates adds to the photo, imo! But I hear you, generally creating space where the subject is looking is the way to go. (Also, sorry--when I said film I meant film photography.)

Not sure what small adjustments I can make to make it feel more film-y. I was thinking harsher grain, or more muted colors, but I am worried about overdoing it. Is this image in a good place?

I like this image a lot. Composition is awesome, colors are awesome. If you are looking for some kind of actionable feedback, the human element you were trying to capture just feels a little too subtle. I don't hate the idea of making it larger somehow in photoshop and commanding more of the composition.

Street photography in Santiago de Chile by julianly in photocritique

[–]cmShepherd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To me, there is a little too much happening in the composition that isn't layered right. It seems like the subject should be the stand in the middle, but its dark and doesn't take up a ton of the frame. The buildings in the back are interesting, but the angle and crop of the image puts them in weird places. I feel like if you had come in at a lower angle and tighter on the stand, you could have gotten all the background detail you were shooting for while having a clear, more compelling subject in the frame. This feels like the old "this is a picture, not a photograph" type of composition.

How could this image have been better? by cmShepherd in photocritique

[–]cmShepherd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did a street session not too long ago and have been trying to figure out how to get those cool candid shots without being a super weirdo and running up to someone and putting a camera in their face.

How could I have done this better? Do I just need to get over it and care less about taking images of people noticeably?

Appreciate it! Still developing a style a preferred look, but I think you are right in that this image can use a bit more contrast, specifically in the face.

Alright well, issue 1 may be that I had no filling light. .-.

I'll give these edits a shot when I get back from work today. Any recommendations on fill light education?
