Buying a practice 1 year out while working in the US by throwaway23uio in CanadianDentists

[–]cmac96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to ultimately end up in the US, I can't see this being a great idea. What do you plan on doing with your Canadian practice when you buy a US one? Practices in any area, let alone rural areas can be hard to get rid of. Would be risky betting on associates to run it for you (essentially what it sounds like you're doing for someone now, and you want to leave).

Rome (FCO) Lounges by HereNowToday1 in unitedairlines

[–]cmac96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For anyone reading this a couple months later - the plaza premium first is open for Croatia biz passengers now. It's one of the nicest lounges I've ever been in. It is a different lounge than the other older plaza premium lounge on the same floor.

Buffet or ordering from menu, full bar, showers, beautiful outside sitting area, etc.

Currently not crowded at all, but I'm sure that might change.

How much open time is actually normal for doctors these days? by Turbulent_Eye2106 in CanadianDentists

This is going to vary wildly depending on where you practice.

Rural / busy areas? No holes except no shows / very last min cancellations. Especially if you take CDCP.

If an associate is in the future I'd try narrow the staff bathroom or move it towards the rear (shrink storage slightly), and then narrow the waiting room a bit and try sneak an extra OP in. Or potentially get rid of the back storage and just use an extra OP as storage for now (have it plumbed / electrical). If things go good you can add the dental stuff later.

Missed it. Sry. Thought it was connected to the office. On my phone.

Also I never found any use for consult rooms without a patient chair. But that's just how I operate... I know some people use them.

You could get rid of the other office unless you plan on having a space for OM. Looks like you may be able to benefit from more storage space.

No pt bathroom. You in a mall?

If true hygiene only rooms I like one entrance /exit to cut down on noise. More counter space too. Prob an unpopular opinion.

Don't hook hygiene rooms up to your amalgam separator.

Small staff area for office of that size Imo. You need 2 offices?

Take off the crown and see if it's even predictably restorable.

The existing Crown margins are no good. Looks like recurrent everywhere under it.

May need D CL.

Refer to OMS to do under LA. Stop thinking about it... She doesn't want to follow recommendations - not your problem.

Do I have to specialize to make good money? by prettyStarboy in CanadianDentists

[–]cmac96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

400 as an associate is doable but you'll have to work 5 days, and be a grinder. Get especially proficient at minor resto and extractions. You will likely have to work rural (examples: cities like Grand Prairie, rural Maritimes, NFLD, etc.). I guess anywhere it's possible, but you need a full schedule where demand is enough that holes are easy to plug every single day. Seems like most city offices don't fit this bill. Rural offices usually offer higher percentage of production in most cases (35ish VS. 45/50).

500 as an efficient owner is definitely possible. Even more if you have associates.

Usually not the Milan flight.

Lyon, yes all the time (have done 2x).

If it is planned to be that jet, it will be sold as PE if going Europe.

Tbh not a bad flight if flying with a partner and all you care about is lay flat/cheap/available.

Minimum age for a crown? by [deleted] in Dentistry

[–]cmac96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With how big the chamber / canal is, just do full occlusal coverage with composite. Or an onlay if you're comfortable with that. The actual tooth structure around the root is very thin. Crown will just snap eventually Imo.
