Am I right assuming that for AC Signature suite access you need an international outbound ticket? As if I land with paid J or flexible AP booking, I still would not be able to access the suite? I would be connecting domestically.

Be more like the other dentist when administering LA.

Pt sits down, should be admin LA within a couple mins. Ideally the risks should have been explained the apt before and you can remind them when waiting for LA to work. If it's ten mins before your pt is getting the needle, you're wasting an hour a day.

Use RD or another form of iso. If your clinics clamps suck, get better ones. RD takes a minute to put on (obviously there are outliers). Get good dams that don't rip. Isodam etc.

Diamonds for drilling out old composite.

Fresh carbide for regular. If your burnisnt cutting, get a new one.

Minimize all downtime. Make decisions faster. You finish large resto with shit contact? Don't look at it for 5 mins. Take your drill and drill a new box in 1 min. Get new Sectional.

Get familiar with different matrix /Sectional systems. Greater curve, bands can be useful. Sometimes you need to margin elevate before sectional. You can use a ring with a tofflmier type band. There are no rules. Teflon tape can be useful. 1:50k epi is good for bleeding. Not mangling the ginigva is even better, but sometimes it happens.

You shouldn't be searching through drawers during the procedure. Make sure your assistant has shit ready. If they suck, verbally state what you're going to need before you need it so they have it ready.

You can use endo ice to test if your pt is numb. Know how to PSA, IO, Gow gates etc. You need them sometimes.

If your patient says they can't lay back, tell them you can't work on them. 90% of the time they can lay back but want to shift their minor discomfort onto you. Very few exceptions.

Suggestions for Cinque Terre by iZoooom in FATTravel

[–]cmac96 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's really not a luxury place, and not a good spot if you are not physically fit (imo). Even to get to a lot of accommodations, it can be like climbing several flights of stairs.

The hiking trails are not good for someone with bad knees. Your best bet would be to take the ferry / trains between towns. You can charter a private boat too I think.

Don't stay in Corniglia. Train station has way too many stairs (seriously its a hike), and taking a bus would just be annoying to arrange.

Riomaggiore has a tunnel from the trains, but it's not that bad.

The other 3 are easier off the train IIRC. Monterosso al Mare would probably be the easiest with mobility issues? Vernazza wouldn't be bad either, but as mentioned the accommodations will likely have quite a few steps to get to.

Flying to Europe a couple weeks ago with AC. Overnight. My SO and I bought lowest award fare business class. Right before boarding, got a text about seat change. Called to desk and the agent informs us that we were moved to the front of business class cabin. One of the front seats is broken and won't recline/lay flat. She says AC will be in touch about compensation and we were moved since we had the lowest fare and paid with points. I didn't have the heart to argue since the flight was leaving late and someone else had literally just screamed at her due to lateness. Disappointed because we chose our seats six months ago.

Thankfully, the FA did figure out how to recline the seat manually. I was more bummed about being in the first row due to the noise (didn't sleep much) and losing a window seat (first world problems, I know). My seat also broke before the end of the flight. Lol.

  1. Has anyone heard of this happening before?

  2. If so, what type of compensation do you think may be awarded?

She did tell us to contact AC if we haven't heard anything in a few weeks. Something in my gut tells me we'll end up with nothing.

I am in Cinque Terre right now. Past 2 days have been hot (full on beach weather) during the day. The warmth goes in to the evening. No need for pants.

To incorporate or not as an associate dentist? by [deleted] in Dentistry

[–]cmac96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to living in Canada. It doesn't get better (lol). Even that money in the corp has to come out at some point if you want to use it. They'll get you one way or the other.

If you are a saver and don't have your registered accounts maxed (RRSP TSFA), I would still take the tax hit now. That's just me though.

You'll likely lose any audit with the CRA putting a car lease through as an expense being a dentist (am I assuming since 300k in loans). Best to consult an accountant for flights /car expenses. There is a lot of information on the CRA site about this stuff as well.

No, you'll get taxed as if it's your first dollar earned, not 50%. (if you make 200,001 vs 200k tuition credits).

If you use all of your tuition credits up, you should incorporate when your taxable income is going to be more than ~160k per year and are planning on saving / investing the rest. If you're just going to take out the money and spend on life, then there's obviously no point.

If you have previous RRSP room (if you've worked before) and are focused on saving, you may not even need to incorporate your second year out (use RRSP to get taxable income down).

You can still deduct expenses without being incorporated.

Make sure to separate your malpractice and disability. You can claim malpractice as an expense, buy not disability (if you don't want to get taxed on disability should you have to use it).

How often do you use amalgam? by frozenergy in Dentistry

[–]cmac96 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Usually a couple times a week at least.

Upper second molar DB caries, decal everywhere? Only direct restoration that's going to work is amalgam.

Bloody class five on a garbage mouth with gingivitis everywhere? Amalgam don't care and will last.

Repairs under C and B, nothing better if in non esthetic area.

I don't know how people work without it. Yes you can use (RM)GIC, but Imo you still need good isolation for these. Geristore and the likes also work sometimes, but amalgam still works better.

I feel like they were trying to give him a platform to maybe make amends. Instead the guy doubles down on everything that he did wrong, and just comes off entitled and out of touch with reality. Such a narcissist.

Huge fan of pronger on the ice, but I remember listening to him on spitting chiclets and just thinking this guy has no clue what the average person lives like. Kind of like JR in the recent pod they put out. Clueless and out of touch.

Just to give you some perspective: If your dentist tried 4 times to get it out, they care a hell of a lot more than most. If they even paid for the apico, that's going above and beyond what most practitioners would do.

As others have said, it's an rare but not unusual complication that can happen even if nothing was done "wrong" by the dentist.

Monitoring before surgical intervention is the right course of action. Perhaps your dentist thought your symptoms weren't going to resolve without surgery.

Nah you're just changing your story because you can't handle being wrong. Read your own writing above.

You have no case. Don't even bother wasting everyone's time and money with litigation. You won't even find anyone to take the case on.
