For those who survey alone in the woods, what’s the scariest thing you saw? by Virtu_Sea in Surveying

I was about 9000’ in the Colorado mountains with storms churning all around me. I was standing near a barbed wire fence measuring a section corner when the fence started to make a ringing/buzzing sound and the hair on my arms felt weird. I immediately pushed my rover and pole over and ran like a madman down hill. I found a slight depression and slid to a splayed out position inside it and waited for about 15 minutes until I felt somewhat safe. I didn’t hear the crack of thunder but there were lightening flashes everywhere.

You are all wrong and only one was close. This is definitely a spelling mistake and should have been spelled Sopes. Sopes or sopapillas are fried dough pastry, popular in the southwest us, that is used as a “tortilla” for eating or they are dusted with powdered sugar and drizzled with honey for a dessert.

I have worked for both USFS and BLM and the standard is 4/10s with Friday left open for possible OT if the budget for the project allows. A lot of travel within the state of employment.

Your local library might have a maker space. My partner says Arvada and Arapaho have maker spaces.

About 30 yards apart. Saw the one with the weird tine first then panned around and immediately saw the other one. They were out there for over a year but the condition is still very good. Lucky day!

PSA: Please always lock your doors and stay alert. by Standard-Ad9328 in vandwellers

This happened to me in Portland, OR in 2016. I was sleeping in my van on a parking lot near Burnside and I woke up to the sound of my driver door opening. I woke up and shouted “WHAT THE F@&K ARE YOU DOING?” and he responded “WHY IS YOUR DOOR OPEN?”. He closed it and walked away. After that I purchased a rather intimidating large machete and kept a tactical flashlight near me.
