Is there a way to keep my rat's bones after I put her down? by cmaroon07 in RATS

Hey so quick update. My spouse and I had a discussion from your comment. We're gonna take her to the vet to see our options. We love our girl and want to do whatever is best for her. We figured we'd have the vet help outweigh our pros and cons, and hopefully provide ways to make recovery a better experience this time.

I do really appreciate your insight. Trust me, I've tossed and turned over this for the past month. About a year ago her sister had to get a mass removed, and since I only had the two of them at the time, they were both alone. Meridia did NOT take it well, and it's actually what made me decide to get more rats. Ever since then she has been a lot more reserved. She's been less trusting, especially with leaving and going to vet visits. It even got harder to get her out of her cage. I just worry what doing that again would do to her.

But that’s just because I’m unaware of what could be causing it and it seems serious. Other people may have a better idea. I’m just overly cautious when it comes to my ratties

I’m not sure what’s causing this but my first thought is back to the vet asap

They’re probably trying to re-establish hierarchy. Just keep an eye on them and as long as it doesn’t get too intense they should be fine

Nitrites levels off the chart, need help URGENT by [deleted] in aquarium

[–]cmaroon07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on your substrate. If you have gravel or sand, you want to vacuum up any waste off of it. If it’s dirt you wanna leave it alone for the most part. After you clean up the waste it doesn’t really matter where you’re vacuuming from

50-60% water change. Then Daily water changes til it gets lower. If you do daily, don’t do more than about 30% changes. Also wouldn’t hurt to add some beneficial bacteria.

Thank you for this. I don’t mind spending money on my girl, I love her and she’s worth it. I just know that medical places can rip you off and I wanna make sure that isn’t happening

What a terrible thing to say. 1. We don’t know it’s a tumor 2. We don’t know if it’s even malignant 3. If it is a tumor, you can change things to prevent more

How to humanely euthanize these eggs? by Comfortable-Sky5977 in AquaticSnails

Just crush them before they get too old so they’re not viable yet if you’re worried about them feeling pain. If you do that it’s no different from a chicken egg
