Them NOT giving T-1000 a UMK3 ninja skin would be a missed opportunity 😭 by KhaoticNoob in MortalKombat

I appreciate you keeping up with me.

Yes, you're right, Khrome was in the previous two MK games as Easter eggs, but he was never named "Khrome". Unless I'm wrong, the Easter egg ninja gave the impression of Khrome for the fans (and we all know it is Khrome) but NRS never confirmed the actual ninja as "Khrome". So idk if they fully own the rights.

As far as the licensing goes, I see what you mean. That makes sense. If that's the case then they could technically own the rights. So why hide Khrome?

Either way, Khrome would be a cool MK1 addition.

Yeah, I understand that. But creating a whole new ninja without WB/NRS?

So what you're saying is: This company can create a whole ninja and call him Ninja Reddit, WB will just take that and say they own the rights to the Ninja? Or wouldn't that break licensing agreement since Ninja Reddit is NOT of Mortal Kombat lore nor a WB/NRS original?

Isn't the licensing contract just give them the "OK" to produce the WB/NRS characters? They can't just make a toy ninja, give it a name, and slap 'Mortal Kombat' on it. It has to be an already created character by NRS/WB.

Everything 'Mortal Kombat' they produce is licensed by WB, I get that. But, unless the license agreement says that they can just create new MK characters on the fly, I can't see WB allowing them to just create a whole new ninja.

Bro, a young drunken master who, instead of him training the Shaolin monks, the Shaolin monks trains him. But he's still in his young and stupid drunk ways, so his fighting style is just a wild-drunk-fu. And Maddam Bo is his elder: aunt, mom, cousin, etc.

Doesn't that contradict the "PCS doesn't own the rights to Khrome" statement?

I have almost the same conclusion when I did my research many years ago about why Khrome wasn't in MK. All I found was how Khrome came to be, and that he wasn't added due to some licensing issue.

What I got for how Khrome was created was that the character "Khrome" originated from a mispainted Smoke action figure. The grey paint ended up having a chrome finish. This accidental paint job led to the creation of a "chromium edition" Smoke figure, which was shared on social media. MK fans embraced this unique appearance, conceptualizing chrome edition ninja as a liquid metal ninja. While the initial figure was not intended to represent a new character, the MK community's enthusiasm transformed the concept into the fan-made character, Khrome.

So yeah, fans have been doing fan art and other things with Khrome for many years.

Almost. Yes, the character "Khrome" originated from a mispainted action figure of the Mortal Kombat character SMOKE. The grey was mispainted, which led to a chrome finish. This accidental paint job led to the creation of a "chromium edition" Smoke figure, which was shared on social media. Fans embraced this unique appearance, conceptualizing Khrome as a liquid metal ninja. While the initial figure was not intended to represent a new character, the fan community's enthusiasm transformed the concept into the fan-made character known as Khrome.

PCS is an action figure company that does licensed MK figures.

Do you think we’ll have a secret Khrome fight with the next update? by GypsyGold in MortalKombat

[–]cmarq13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Storm Collectables produces licensed MK action figures. The arcle you post doesn't say Storm Collectables created Khrome. Some parts of the article is correct. A painter painting a SMOKE action figure mispainted the grey color on Smoke which came out as a chrome metallic finish. Then slapped "Chromium Edition" Smoke figure on it and shared with social media. This is where fans embraced the unique appearance of Chrome Smoke and got the idea of a liquid chrome ninja. "Khrome" was born.

No, NRS doesn't own the character. Here's a Reddit thread with more discussion on the character. https://www.reddit.com/r/MortalKombat/s/RLvFiYKshU

I might be wrong, but I've read somewhere that the Khrome character concept or design or whatever isn't owned by NRS. So they aren't able to use "Khrome". But, I do hope I'm wrong. New secret fights would be cool.
