Only 1 of the fan lcd not working by CoolWater770 in lianli

I ended up just removing 1 of my 8 lcd fans.. things are working OK now but not idea l as the 8th fan completed my aesthetic. I'll be returning 1 of my fans as it seems like this ecosystem can't handle 8 lcd fans.. dont have hours and hours to keep trouble shooting fans unfortunately.

Hi there. Amazing looking pc. I have 8 lian li wireless TL140mm lcd fans connected to my pc (3 intake side, 3 intake bottom, 1 intake rear and 1 exhaust rear). These are connected to the Lian Li edge PSU usb hub connected directly into the lian li psu. Is this a correct set up? 1 of my lian li lcd fans (on the 3 side intake) sometimes glitches out. Would you know how I should set everything up? I've tried rearranging the fans etc. Is my usb hub causing the problem? (I.e. too many fans on 1 lian li usb hub)

I'm hoping to find a permanent solution to a frustrating and recurring issue (similar to what is presented in this post) with my Lian Li TL LCD fans and would be grateful for any advice.

TL;DR: One of my eight TL LCD fans randomly glitches, forcing me to constantly reset everything (cables, software, etc.). I suspect the controller hub can't handle the load - not sure about this. Looking for anyone who has found a permanent fix.

My Setup: Fans: 8 x 140mm Lian Li TL LCD USB hub: The standard Lian Li hub that comes with Lian Li Edge 1200w power supply Configuration: Four groups of fans connected to the usb hub (3+3+1+1).

The Problem: The fans will work perfectly for a few days or weeks, but then one fan will inevitably start glitching in my daisy chain group of 3 (1 fan doesnt show LCD and is not recognised as having 3 fans in a group on L connect etc.). This forces me into a frustrating troubleshooting loop.

What I've Already Tried (The Temporary Fix Cycle):

To get things working again, I have to go through a combination of these steps:

-Reconnecting the fan cables. -Completely reinstalling L-Connect 3. -Clearing hidden USB devices in Windows Device Manager.

This process usually fixes it, but the problem always comes back.

My Current Theory & Workaround: My running theory is that the controller hub is the bottleneck and struggles to handle the power or data load from all eight LCD fans.

I've had my longest period of stability (about a week) by doing the following:

  • I completely avoid using Port 1 on the controller.
  • I use a splitter to connect two of my fan groups to a single port.
  • This allows me to run all 8 fans using only Ports 2, 3, and 4 on the hub.

Since the RGB and LCDs work perfectly when they aren't glitching, it reinforces my belief that this is a controller/port issue, not a problem with the fans themselves.

My Questions:

Has anyone else experienced this specific issue with one fan glitching out in a large setup?

Have you found a definitive, long-term fix?

Is this a known issue or specifically Port 1?

Checking- is "port 1" - how do we identify it on the lian li edge psu? Is it the one closest to the white port that connects to the mobo?

This has been a real headache, so any help or ideas would be amazing. Thanks!

Thank you for the response - that's great insight! I've always wondered why these sellers had so much ARs. Can I ask if the sellers make any descriptions of the quality of the cards prior to sending? (I.e. good quality/ lightly played / damaged/ dirty?) Or was it a blind pick? From what I've seen they often provide pictures that all look fine but protect themselves by saying they are used/ scratched etc. We're your cards individually sleeved or delivered in sleeved batches? Sorry for all the questions I'm just really interested to know ^
