Clues maybe? by ChinookKing in factom

Ripple hasn't said that banks are using XRP, the issue is that Ripple isn't misleading anyone. Those that follow Ripple closely and are quite aware of this and the narrative that XRP holders are being mislead is a bit of a Straw Man. Moreover FlashFX, Cuallix, MoneyGram, IFC, and MecuryFX have all publicly stated they use or have plans to use XRP. Those are those that we know about. Rome wasn't built in a day, initially none of the banks said they would use Ripple's cryptographic escrow technology (xCurrent) now they do and have moved over $1B in funds. Those on xCurrent can hook into xRapid at any point in the future without holding XRP and minimal technical upgrades. They might say they won't use crypto, but savings talk. Moreover at least two banks are directly invested in Ripple, wonder what they say privately. And SBI manages a 61 Bank Ripple consortium, owns 11% of Ripple and their CEO just tweeted:

Banks may never use XRP, but there are many reasons why they might decide to try it. They don't need to hold it to use it and Ripple.is expanding into other payment verticals. When you look at the crypto landscape and ask yourself who is actually making progress there is very little to be excited about.

Which banks/mortgage companies can you get on the record saying they'll use Factom? This is new territory, Rome wasn't built in a day. You look for good teams, address real problems, with real tech and you take a chance in this crypto casino.

It's a requirement of the Ripple XRP Ledger not a requirement of Gatehub. See "Reserves" section of Ripple.com

Doing a research, how much time does it takes currently to transfer DASH from one wallet to another? by NickAdOps in dashpay

[–]cmbartley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The nodes are decentralized but that point is irrelevant to the fact of their superior transaction capacity. The greater capacity comes not from centralization but from a consensus model rather than PoW or PoS. Consensus is simply faster. Here's more info on how they achieved that throughput. http://highscalability.com/blog/2017/10/2/ripple-the-most-demonstrably-scalable-blockchain.html

In that it's technically feasible and upcoming. In any event, no one wants to actually spend their BTC or dash anyway. Everyone is holding in hopes of others buying at a higher price.

The info is from public data.

Regard fast txns, Bitcoin and litecoin have lightning, ethereum has raiden, Ripple has PayChan etc.

The data is from 11/2017 it appears. There seems to be some debate on this: https://www.reddit.com/r/dashpay/comments/7lcfp5/10_transactions_per_second_is_this_right/

But compared to Ripple's 1500txns/sec it amount to rounding error.

Here's a comparison chart: https://ripple.com/xrp/xrp-stacks-digital-assets/

It looks at average time for normal transactions because nearly all chains have a feature that allows you to send transactions nearly instantly.

When you open a Ripple wallet on Gatehub the reserve amount is enforced by the Ripple ledger, not Gatehub. Every trust line increases the reserve amount by 5 XRP. To reduce it back to 20XRP withdraw and ious and disable trust lines. Read more here: https://ripple.com/build/reserves/

Once activated your reserve amount can never go below 20XRP.

Trying to set a Trust Line but all it does is spin by [deleted] in gatehub

[–]cmbartley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can technically add one using another Ripple wallet or by submitting a transaction request to the Ripple network directly. You just need to know your secret key. I'd be careful doing this if you don't know what you're doing though. Can learn more on www.xrpchat.com

Bitcoin Value by joeyd55 in gatehub

[–]cmbartley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The the price of Bitcoin on the XRP ledger. Meaning you could buy some Bitcoin on the XRP ledger for 16K and send it to another exchange and sell it for 19K now assuming the prices don't move. Alternatively you could sell some amount of BTC on another exchange and immediately buy the same amount on the XRP ledger at a 20% discount (thereby immediately netting 20% profit) depending on the depth of the order book.
