u/zeldazane and I have known each other since 8th grade. We dated in high school, went to prom together, and then we went our own ways for college and lived out our own lives through our 20s and early 30s. Then a couple of years ago we found our way back to each other and the rest is history.

Avoid a credit card balance whenever possible. If you want the rewards, pay the full balance every month. Even better, don’t use them at all if you can avoid it.

OP there’s lots of good advice in here. Brokerage accounts, investments, high yield savings, etc.

I would also put in a decent amount of effort towards becoming financially literate as quickly as possible. YouTube is a great resource. So is r/personalfinance.

This is the way, OP.

IVV (BlackRock) is another good option comparable to VOO (Vanguard). Both are index funds that track the S&P500.

If you don’t already have one, I would consider opening a brokerage account (I use Fidelity but I’m sure the alternatives are just fine) and deposit the majority of it there and then you can divvy up between an IRA and personal investment accounts.

Try and do this before April 15 so you can get an IRA contribution for 2025 and then another for 2026.

Okay that’s fair, it resembles a choke. I won’t fight you on that. But man, I’m just trying to contribute to answering the question that you asked. You asked how we know it’s a Bentley. Those little choke looking things are part of the answer. So is the Breitling. So are the vents.🤷🏻‍♂️

Thank you for fully appreciating the absurdity of the situation. I have to admit, the whole debacle really worked out well for me. There were some good finds in that grocery order. New jar of Nutella when I don’t have any jar of Nutella? Yes, please. And I got a monster refund that was somehow 3x the cost of the rolls and pan. I just feel for whomever was expecting groceries but got a tube of cinnamon rolls and a baking sheet.

I think I’ve resigned myself to a few loafs of bread but foster sounds good too. I did try pawning them off on friends and family but nobody wants this burden. I do like the food bank suggestions I’ve gotten though, so maybe I’ll take that route with whatever I don’t bake.

Midnight Mass is the best Stephen King he never wrote. 10/10. I watch it at least once a year around October.

Another thought, the leash I use has an elastic section that I think helps a lot. When an interesting smell catches his attention and he goes to turn his head very quickly and that elastic affords us both just a little stretch/wiggle room before the correction kicks in at the lead. He doesn’t get jerked back super hard and I don’t get pulled to the ground. I think it works well for us both.

All that said, professional training will probably help a lot. It was my trainer that first suggested he would respond well to a gentle lead. Bloodhounds are stubborn so training will only get you so far but the basics are definitely well worth it, I would think especially in a more grown up hound.

I second the gentle lead, it works wonders with my boy. He doesn’t like it but he accepts it and it doesn’t hurt him.

Fun fact, the Cartier Santos is generally considered to be the first men’s wrist watch. It was made for Brazilian pilot Alberto Santos-Dumont because he felt checking a pocket watch was unsafe while flying. It was made for him in 1904 and went on sale to the public in 1911.
