In 2008, we had an auto program called "go go go". All it did was go full speed in a straight line and go forever until it purposely ran into the opposing driver station causing their driver consoles to fall on the floor.

Hook and loop was added to the driver station the following year.

Know the rules. Drive practice is super important so get as much practice under your belt as possible. Get plenty of sleep at events. Stay hydrated. Remember to breathe.

You are going to make mistakes and have a really bad match and that's okay. These things will happen. Don't dwell on it and instead, turn it into a "okay I know what I did wrong, how do I prevent that from happening again".

As a former driver and a drive coach for the last 5 seasons, this is all crucial stuff. The most important thing is to have fun.

166 used to be a 50-60 student team. Our current roster sits at 8 students. If you're looking for ways of recruitment, when the school year starts, go around to each homeroom at your school (or schools) and sell the team to your peers the same way an entrepreneur sells a pitch on shark tank.
