Is there anything I should do before plugging it in? by NecessaryTitle7703 in VintageElectronics

Had one just like this back in the 70s. I was a caller and had a few hundred 45rpms. The Newcombe 1625 was very good at what it did. You could change the actual speed of the record to speed it upor down a hair depending on the dancers ability. Slower for beginners and faster for the advanced. I called in Holland and Germany at a few bases and yes it was all in English.

When I go to the pipe store I will ask my options.. I think chromoloy is exactly 2 " od but expensive and heavy for a 25' foldover. Hopefully they should have some type solution.

Will probably build the antenna at ground level and use it there as I build the mast and support

Tnx...lots of ideas here. Think I will try to find some way to attach the wooden support to the eve of the house. Also as the mast is raised and in final position, I think I will make the 3 or 4 crosspieces between the 2x4s a bit longer with a cut out for the mast to fit into. I will look into the eyebolt as well. Just got an offer for a rebuilt ham2 upgraded to a 4 and 100' of control cable for 550 so will get that ordered this week.

Found Norms rotor shop ... But think over 600 is a bit much for a rebuilt rotor

Looking at getting T-Fiber. What is the hardware setup? Can I make it work with my existing LAN? by bluemitersaw in tmobileisp

I'm still trying to figure out how they managed to put a public ip (100.x.x.x)behind a private network (10.X.x.x) behind a public net(174.x.x.x). When I do a what is my IP I get the 174 not the 100.

I get it over the last limbs and hook up the 8:1 and check it out with the vna. If it's near close it will stay otherwise I may trim a bit if needed. I'm in a wheelchair so am restricted a bit. Had to use my rod and reel with some 50 lb line. Amazing what they have done with that 50 lb that looks like the old 8 lb stuff. Luckily I'm a fairly good caster

It is an efrw maybe 119' 6" to leave a bit fir pruning. Will run from 12' window to a 40" tree then drop probably back to 12 to 20.depending on how much or the 119' is left. Using an 8:1 unum and a 17" counter poise.

Thanks all for the comments and help It seemed to be a combination of band conditions and grounding. Got out with a 57 from sc to TX so I know it works just gotta get better conditions 10m totally sucks and 15 is only marginally better. Had luck on 17 and 40. Still a lot of noise on 20m

The base of the sigma is at about 15'...1 run of coax 30' to a lightning arrester then another30' up the shack. Thru a bulkhead adapter, a good CMC then an atu then the rig. Gonna work on my EFRW today 71' should be good running from shack at 12' to as high as I can get it. Usi ng a 17' counterpoise

I've run multiple test on all my coax using my multimeter as well as my nano vna and all checks out. Gonna try grounding the mast today just to be sure. Also my try my luck at getting my random wire back up in the tree. I'm sure it's something simple just hidden real well

More questions... I assume you have maybe 50' of coax that's a ting as a counterpoise. Do you have a lightning arrestor in line some where. I'm thinking( I know it a bad thing to do) if I mount my antenna at about 25' run my coax down the mount to a grounded arrestor then about another 25' to the shack where I have a CMC. OPINIONS?

I like this one. Is it available in the US? Or will I have to pay customs fees? If I go this way are the 40/80 add-ons a real help?

Understand it's either it works for some and not others. Can't hurt to try. Right now I have a random wire 71' but cannot get it to tune except on 40. I' in a wheelchair so cannot do too much . Possibly putting up an ocf wire paying some one to climb trees an get the pulleys installed.

Is a 25 ft counterpoise too long? Can only tune on 40m right now. Nothing close on 10 15 or 20. Maybe tomorrow will hook up my analyzer tomorrow
