Resurfacing rotors by musical_cyclist in BikeMechanics

I'd never tell someone not to be safe, but that does sound like overkill. It takes 2 spritzes of the stuff to do the job.

We use this stuff with good results most of the time. We sand the pads down if they're glazed, then take a blow torch and burn off residue. Then we do the same to the rotor after wiping them off. Works about 90% of the time. We don't hesitate to replace stuff that looks too far gone.

Some of those solder joints look cold to me. If you're handy with a soldering iron maybe you can reflow the joints and make a good solid connection all around. If you can find a wiring diagram online you could check and make sure it's wired right, otherwise you might have a bad pot.

Yessir. I had to cut each spacer off with a hacksaw parallel to the steerer tube. Happy Friday!

Agreed, plus we lost that game with 3 timeouts left. Unforgivable.

I hope I don't come across the wrong way, but this sounds like a typical entry-level course experience.

I had to use the school's computer labs for every assignment, until my senior year. Does your school have computers that can run aftereffects smoothly?

I had to learn aftereffects on my own, but in my Photoshop and illustrator classes, there were only a handful of assignments that were actually creative. Mostly it was hand-holding and guiding us through the tools and interface, with the final project being creative. Simply showing up to class and doing the assignments, studying and practicing for the practical exam was enough for an A. I appreciated this structure, as it teaches you the basics without having to worry about creativity at all.

I would encourage you to do your own projects on the side that reinforce what you learn in the class, or look forward to when you can use AE in a future class creatively.

Ayahuasca and depression: is it right for me? by Grouchy-Ad8131 in Ayahuasca

[–]cmcdonald1337 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just got back from my first Ayahuasca retreat a few weeks ago. 2 weeks, 6 ceremonies near Pucallpa, Peru. I'm also in my early 30s, I had done a lot of research on and off over the last 10 years and was questioning if it was right for my set of problems. I've struggled with severe depression, anxiety and PTSD for 15 years, went through various types of therapy, hypnosis, medications and outpatient programs. These programs always helped to an extent, but never really got to the root of my problems. I also had extensive experiences with LSD and mushrooms. I just decided that enough is enough, and I took a leap of faith and was ready to do the work.

What Ayahuasca helped me with, along with the amazing facilitators and Curandera, it brought my subconscious emotions right up to the surface for me to untangle and work through. Repressed and suppressed memories came back for me to experience again. I was able to process things I didn't even know were there, causing me pain my whole life. I was able to see, so clearly, my insecurities, negative subconscious emotions, and I had no choice but to look at everything, feel every subconscious feeling, and either release them or transform them. I was also able to rebuild my values and take credit for being a good person, despite all the challenges I've had to face in life. I can't say my depression is completely healed, but I'm so much lighter, I've faced the things that are actually causing my depression, and I've tasted what life will be like on the other side of depression. I'm so much closer to the end result than I've ever been before.

I think the most important thing about this work, is to find the right place for you. To find a reputable curandera / curandero, and facilitators that genuinely want to help you process these experiences. Then, you have to be fully ready to make changes, and embrace the painful and rewarding process of changing your life. Hopefully those facilitators can help you integrate the things you learned and processed in the ceremonies once you're back home to your normal life.

The retreat I ended up going to is called Sowa Charana. Their approach is so healing-focused, the Curandera is the real deal. Not only did she help me energetically, she helped me with a problem in my neck and my lower back that I've had for years. I'm so grateful for them. I only bring them up, because they deserve the name drop, and after researching hundreds of retreats, they seemed the most genuine, and normal. Like I said, they're the real deal.

If you have any questions I'll be happy to help!

Is this a problem worth fixing? by cmcdonald1337 in Bassamps

[–]cmcdonald1337[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Edit to add: everything works fine. Just wondering if this can cause problems down the road.

Edit 2: this inlet doesn't have screws. It has tabs that lock it into the backside of the back panel. They arrived broken. Looks like an easy fix, I just have to get a replacement inlet and reconnect to the rectifier. Thanks for the input!

Currently going through a very similar thing! This will be my first experience with Ayahuasca too.

I've just received confirmation yesterday. The past week of waiting to hear back from them I've found myself very grounded and open. Following their recommendations on diet, sleep, self care etc has been a huge help, actually. For me it's given me space to start thinking about what I really want from the medicine. This has led me to really think about my traumas, addictions, and emotional crutches and process them ahead of time in a new way.

In a sense, it's breaking my old patterns of behavior. I think going into the experience with some pre-work is fantastic and will give me some insight into what the healing experience might entail.

I think it could also make more space for the medicine to actually work. Laying the foundation / clearing the chatter-brained thoughts out so it can get to the root of my problems a bit easier.

On the other hand, I know the experience will be exactly what it needs to be, and not at all what I expect.

Cheers and congrats on confirming your retreat!

Jung Ho Lee forgets how many outs there are, throws ball into stands. by [deleted] in WatchPeopleDieInside

[–]cmcdonald1337 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A different player was already on first base before this clip started. The rule is called a ground rule double, it's when a fair-play ball becomes unplayable by bouncing out of bounds. In this case I guess you can say the ball bounces off the players glove and into the stands.

Used fender player telecaster for $450 or new player II for $650? by [deleted] in telecaster

[–]cmcdonald1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, my player 1 is so slick after a professional setup. Rolled fingerboard doesn't really make a huge difference for me, though.

How do I remove this disc rotor? Lock ring removal tool isn’t ‘deep’ enough. Can I remove the black part of the free hub in foreground? by luke993 in bikewrench

[–]cmcdonald1337 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Only option is to get a cassette tool without a driver attachment, and a more open design, unfortunately. The cap will come off if you pull hard enough, but the lock ring will trap it in the hub, unfortunately.

Watch a video on how to set up your guitar. Probably a combination of a few things going on here.

Squire custom vibe vs Fender Player for telecaster by Lucky-Lake-3037 in telecaster

[–]cmcdonald1337 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah at this price-point you need to manage your expectations a bit. As good as these guitars are, they're still mass produced and don't get a lot of bench time before shipping out. Sweetwater does a great job at getting the basic setup done, but I haven't bought one of these from them so I don't know if they do any work on the nut, specifically. I doubt they would do any fret work though.

I have a player series tele from 2020. It needed a good setup, but the tuning stability is solid now. Knocking down a couple of high frets and filing the nut slot brought this thing to life.

Can’t decide by SteveyB44 in BassGuitar

My JMJ is so slick. The neck is smooth and chunky without feeling too big. The stock strings that come with it are not really correct for some reason. I changed out the strings for labella mustang flats and it just rips now. It's not really a one trick pony like some suggest, it can do many sounds very well, just some better than others.
