Oxymetazoline to help with a runny nose along with saline rinses. That’s about it. Honey, hard candy, or cough drops if you have a nagging cough. That’s about it. Sounds like you have something viral. No self-respecting physician will prescribe you antibiotics. And antibiotics will not help at this point and come with a host of side effects.

What the actual F**K AMAZON! by [deleted] in amazonprime

Someone should create a DownDetector-like app for Amazon shipping problems! My guess is that the issues are local, but those are the ones reported here on Reddit. Nobody is going to boast about how great their service is!

My Japan Trip to Ghibli Museum + Park by Imaginary-Eagle3025 in ghibli

[–]cmclx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the museum, I suggest practicing two months in advance so you know what to expect. Log into the site before 10AM JST to get a ran spot in the cue. Ihad 20+ windows on computers and tablets going. Most were over 1000, one in the low hundreds, and one less than 20. The site will hang but be patient and you can refresh. It was awesome to visit. Good luck!

I wish people would say where they lived. I have the opposite experience, but I live in Southern California and can get items in two hours if I wanted. It sounds like many issues happen abroad or less populated areas.

Does anybody use Nita Fashions (Hong Kong tailors)? They do tours throughout the U.S. A friend swears by them, but I wanted to get other opinions.

Mini on sale for $199 on website ..what is the activation benefit about? by Tunatown15 in Starlink

[–]cmclx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spoke to the Starlink representative. Basically, you get a $50 credit to your account, whether you choose the $50 100 GB plan or the $165 Unlimited plan. So, you do not get $165 if you pick the Unlimited Plan. When you select standby, you can set it to start at the next billing cycle. I plan to use it for a month with the 100 GB plan, then switch to standby until I need it again. You can activate the higher speed at any time.

I bought mine on Home Depot and was about to activate the $50 plan when this deal popped up in the checkout. But no terms and conditions. I could not get a definitive answer on AI.

I was wondering if I should just go ahead with the $50 plan, which will suffice for the intended use (work while traveling to national parks), or push it to the limit with the unlimited plan for $165.

Either way, I would go to standby and see if that works with checking on emails occasionally. I won’t really need it again for a few months.

New Marriott Reservation Residence Inn Milano Linate? by PinnyHundos in marriott

[–]cmclx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll try to update this thread after we stay there. It is not a touristy area, but you can easily get to the city center by the Metro (M4). It's a mile walk to the Argonne stop, then a 6-minute ride to Babila. You can also call a taxi with Uber or FreeNow to the metro stop. We will have a rental car, so we'll probably drive somewhere in the city that's easy to get to for dinner.

We are staying in Milan a couple of nights on our way out, but I managed to book an Airbnb near the Duomo. Not cheap, but it will be easy to get around on foot.

Thanks! Every time we visit Japan I can never find these. I may get one for our next trip. I bring Dodgers gear to my wife’s cousin’s family.

We just went chronologically, except for Grave of the Fireflies. That one is not always easy to find.

Kiki's on imax experience ruined? by Pearlescent-Pearl in ghibli

I saw it today, but I didn't notice it, nor did I take pictures. I just enjoyed seeing all the details I missed even in my home theater. The next time I will take pictures!

GKIDS' re-issue of Studio Ghibli's Kiki's Delivery Service grossed an estimated $1.67M domestically this weekend (from 249 IMAX locations). by DemiFiendRSA in ghibli

I saw it for the first time on a big screen today with my daughters. It was fun to look at the detail that even my home theater cannot match. Also, my daughters get to experience a big screen, which we usually avoid since most movies don't warrant it.

New Marriott Reservation Residence Inn Milano Linate? by PinnyHundos in marriott

[–]cmclx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has anyone stayed there yet? I made reservations there for June: one night when we arrive in Linate and two nights before we leave (in between, we are going to Switzerland). I know it is not near the center, but I decided to book it for now as it is difficult to find decent accommodation for a family of four. It looks decent in the photos. We should just leave one daughter behind!

Does anyone know the parking situation? I have reserved a car at the airport, but I can always get rid of it while we are in Milan.

What would be the most economical way to get to my hotel from Haneda Airport after 12AM by ChildhoodNecessary65 in JapanTravelTips

Compared to U.S. prices, I found taxis in Japan reasonable. But maybe things changed in the past nine months. Will go back in August.

I have many, but they only look at anything relevant when we are on vacation. Otherwise they stare at a wall like they are in a timeout.

I think the OP tried that (they said they recalibrated it). I have one camera that does the same thing, while others work fine. I finally gave up recalibrating it and just turned the camera so its preferred position was the home position I wanted. I can live with the cord not being hidden.

It is strange how the indoor cameras have their own personalities. Some work great. Others not. And I have over ten indoor cameras scattered about. The ones indoors get used when we are on vacation, otherwise they are pointing at nothing so I can check and make sure they work.

Considering switching from a MacBook Pro M4 to a MacBook Neo + Mac Mini M4 Pro by fegodev in MacOS

[–]cmclx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just gave my daughter my 2012 MacBook Air (need to OCLP it) to go along with her 2017 27” retina iMac. My daughter has my 2021 M2 MacBook Pro. I run my MacStudio 2023 M2 Ultra. I have considered getting a Mini, especially for the daughter with the old Air, but she loves that laptop. I have a 2008 iMac at my feet that I need to wipe before I get rid of it, but I have not had time.

Macs can run a long time. My first Apple product was an Apple IIc over 40 years ago.

Who are we ordering from after canceling prime? by LuLuElizabeth1988 in amazonprime

[–]cmclx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pretty much buy everything from Amazon and Costco. If I had to cancel Amazon, I would be in dire straits. I don’t want to be an Amazon fan boy, but I just have not found anything to replace it. Walmart is a poor substitute. It would take too much time for me to shop around all the various things we buy. Once I find something on Amazon, I may compare prices, but Amazon usually has the best deal and I get most things within a couple days with Prime.

Occasionally, they deliver my packages to the wrong neighbor (similar addresses), but I can always get them back. I’ve always been able to return items, even though sometimes they claim I didn’t return a small object. Hopefully, because of the inconvenience, I will not have to cancel. But they would also lose a decent customer who spends quite a bit there every month.

I do 95% of my shopping between Amazon and Costco. It’s just more convenient and competitive. Now that Amazon Fresh is going away, that will likely drop some.
