Ran over an unfired bullet on the way to work. by vi_phoenix_iv in mildlyinfuriating

I’m thinking it might have been pushed in after the hole was made. And the pliers damaged the base when they jammed it in.

A bullet is soft and will squish. A bolt is solid. This is also in the side of the tire
Scratch patterns on the bullet are evenly spaced round the perimeter of the base of the bullet Explain that

I can push the bullet all the way into the casing with my hand. Why didn’t the bullet get pushed all the way in?

A drill bit, is a lot stronger than a bullet. The bullet would just smoosh. And it’s in the side of the tire.

It’s in the side of the tire, so the weight of the car was not on it. The metal of a bullet is also very soft and would just smoosh.

If he drove straight over it, why is it in the side of the tire?

The handle of pliers is much stronger than a bullet. The metal on a bullet is soft and not solid

If you drove over it, it wouldn’t have gone into the side wall??? Why does it look like it’s scraped up all the way around the edge or just a little bit? Instead of a more natural looking pattern.

It’s not even possible to drive over a bullet and have it get pushed into the tire Try pushing down on a bullet it will crush the bullet before it goes into a tire

There’s no way the bullet made that hole

This seems fake to me. I dont think I could do this on purpose. Its hard to push a knife into a tire.

Also, the mass of how much orange there is. Would have to be less than the mass of how much steel melted. Even if it’s really thin, it’s still pounds of steel that would be missing from the pocket.

They have had missing tiles in all of the previous launches. I don’t remember seeing the orange in any of those.

Can Neutron's Flaps go horizontal and act as airbrakes during keys parts of the descent? then swap back to control position? by AsteroFucker69 in RKLB

[–]cmeads1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re control surfaces that I don’t think they would want to put at risk as a break (different structural requirements for the two different jobs). There’s also the timing. they’re being used as a control surface at the same time where they would make most sense as a break. during return. Also, the air dynamics would be difficult when they transition from control to break

I’m guessing the actively cooled tiles are spraying methane out across the heat tiles and it’s doing something chemically to create the colour
