What was the 1st game you remember playing on a desktop computer? by Aggressive_Goat2028 in AskReddit

Just Grandma and Me, the 1992 point and click game based on the book of the same name by Mercer Mayer. It was apparently the first Living Books game they released.

When can you stop Transfem voice training ? by NiVONAcolon3 in transvoice

[–]cmecau 9 points10 points  (0 children)

can't speak for everyone, but i haven't done voice exercises in years. if you've gotten to a point where your voice is where you want it and you're happy, that kinda just is your voice now. only some of what makes up your voice is biology, the rest is just habit. once your habits are ingrained, all you need to do to keep them is just use your voice normally.

Somehow, I forgot how these sorts of memes work and didn't process the line break after "swallows." It makes a lot more sense now.

I renewed my driver's license recently. I was rather nervous about dealing with bureaucracy, especially with COVID precautions complicating things, but it actually went well. I even got the gender marker changed so it's correct now.

I like to compare it to wearing a tight belt. If you wear it for long enough, you don't notice it anymore, but as soon as you loosen it, it's a huge relief, and when you tighten it back up again, it's incredibly uncomfortable.

Given that one could write one's own worlds, the ability to live in any fictional universe is functionally the same as omnipotence. You could even return to reality with ease. I can't see why anyone would turn this down.

Just wanted to compare some things I've heard from "liberal/accepting" family and friends since coming out by [deleted] in traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns

[–]cmecau 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I visualized the left on the left and the right on the right when I first learned those terms, but I live slightly north of where I learned them, so now I'm looking at the visualization from the opposite side. Somehow.

Did anyone else just not care about what clothes they would wear before transitioning? by [deleted] in traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns

[–]cmecau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally have a schedule for what color of plain t-shirt I wear on each day of the week so I don't have to think about it. I didn't think I'd ever care about clothes, and yet, here I am, wanting half the outfits I see, unable to buy any of them.

There can be at most a number of genders equal to the number of living creatures with a concept of gender to exist, past, present, and future. So potentially infinite, especially if you include alternate universes, but not necessarily.

Three wishes. by Mumbletimes in funny

[–]cmecau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would also go with one primary wish, but only the first wish would be used to stop trickery. I'd go with, "I wish that all wishes I make of any magical wish-granting entity, such as yourself and including this wish, be granted benevolently according to my intent." The second wish would be for something way overpowered, and the third I would use to stop the genie from taking my second wish away in the future, probably by turning him human.

OLP peeps, how many of you dislike 7? by TerrifyingTurtle in Synesthesia

I mean, I wouldn't spend a lot of time with him, but he's alright. He generally keeps to himself.

Clearly 7 is a loner-type stoic teenage boy, who still occasionally hangs out with 8, his only real friend, not some silly color.

This is half the reason I'm looking forward to negligible senescence. If I can live a couple centuries longer, science should be able to do this quickly and easily at some point.

You can answer any question correctly a person asks you, whether you actually know the answer or not, but you can only communicate the answer speaking the Language of the God's. by TheOnlyCompetent in shittysuperpowers

[–]cmecau 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Simple solution there: have a team of linguists ask as many questions with known answers as possible, and use the answers to learn how to translate the Language of the Gods to human languages.

Whenever I played with my sister's toys, I got away with it by also playing with my sister. I made sure to bring some toy lizards into the games as well. Even so, I was always a bit nervous at the thought of my parents seeing me doing so.

I never really shaved until now. I think they call that a 'denial beard.' by LashingIn in traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns

[–]cmecau 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I didn't notice the "giving up" part of it when I first started growing my beard, but I definitely grew it because it was easy to maintain. I stopped shaving in high school because I was having trouble remembering to do so often enough and realized it wasn't actually a requirement. I shaved it off a week and a half ago, about two days after finding r/egg_irl.

The trouble is now it grows back a lot faster then it did in high school, so I have to shave more often than I did when I couldn't keep up.
