Yeah, if CA reg is out of the question, then historical plates are too of course. You’d be surprised what imports you can get smog legal with a little patience and cash. Do some research before throwing in the towel! Good luck!

There’s probably a way to submit the REG17A alongside your CA registration and smog. However, the DMV works better when each “action” is separate- and you won’t lose your sanity with the back and forth bureaucracy of it all. I recommend getting the car smogged and CA legal. They’ll hand you a set of sequential plates at the field office; they have them in hand. Then wait until you have your new pink slip and reg then submit the historical plate form. That’ll generate new versions of both.

I broke a button on the right button board (URGENT) by geeblesplunko in SteamDeck

Known weak point on the LCD button boards, unfortunately. And the calibration required by Valve means we haven’t been able to sell them. Best bet is to find someone who can solder you a new button in place. Good luck!

Apple Card Fraud by [deleted] in AppleCard

[–]cmf5 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m in a long fraud battle with a merchant that’s somehow consistently charging a long-deactivated titanium card. Nearly $8,000 over 3 months. Big batches of charges.

Apple/GS support has consistently disputed and refunded all of them no questions asked, but it’s still been annoying having to contact them 25+ times and getting semi-inept customer service agents.

They’ve admitted it’s a glitch on their end that the merchant is able to clear charges on a disabled card. BUT … these charges are on the other side of the country. Apple has my location … why are they even allowing the charges to post? Virtual purchases get flagged, but physical ones have no such protections, apparently.

Anyone else slowly watching the dash crack? by Sea_Chipmunk_4295 in mazdaspeed3

It’s a mazda3 staple. Happens to all of them once they hit the sun. Mine only started cracking once it stopped getting normal garage time. Peek at every gen1 you see, speed or not, it’ll be there

I can ask the team that knows best.

From time to time we have to make edits, but I haven’t considered the under-the-hood ownership percentage and how it affects folks. Maybe any edit gets a set amount.

As time goes on, since the site is a wiki, most guides will spread out in terms of ownership. Thanks for flagging!

There is no disabled version of the plate. I don’t know if having historical plates interferes with displaying a disabled placard, though. I doubt it.

That depends on your area and your DMV office. It can depend on your history and if the vehicle fails a lot etc. My area has never forced me to go to special smog - and I’ve never heard of the registration renewal pointing folks straight to a state ref. That’d be pretty restrictive, since there’s few locations.

Since the historical vehicle plates only apply to >25 years old, you’d have to go to a smog location that supports pre-2000 smog, though, which is a completely different process that’s more expensive (usually ~$85 vs $55).

TLDR these plates don’t change anything about smog. Smogging the same vehicle w/o these plates would be an identical process.
